Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Infrastructure and Platform Engineer based in the United States.

Join a technology-driven engineering team focused on building and operating reliable infrastructure and platform services that empower product teams to deliver software efficiently. In this hands-on role, you will implement automated pipelines, shared services, and cloud-ready environments that simplify development and deployment. You will contribute to infrastructure reliability, operational excellence, and the adoption of standardized engineering practices. Working within a small, collaborative team, you will help maintain production services, improve automation, and support incident response. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers to implement established architectural standards while identifying opportunities for improvement. This remote opportunity offers practical exposure to platform engineering and site reliability engineering (SRE), with room to expand your technical ownership and grow your career.

Accountabilities

  • Platform Development: Build, maintain, and enhance standardized development pipelines, shared platform services, and engineering environments that enable product teams to deliver software consistently.
  • Infrastructure Automation: Implement infrastructure-as-code solutions to automate provisioning, configuration, and environment management while promoting repeatability and reducing manual effort.
  • Operations and Reliability: Contribute to monitoring, alerting, incident response, and on-call rotations to maintain dependable platform services and support service-level objectives.
  • Incident Management: Assist with troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and post-incident problem-solving to improve system stability and prevent recurring issues.
  • Developer Enablement: Help product teams onboard to standardized platform workflows, provide technical guidance, and maintain clear, accurate documentation for shared tools and services.
  • Architecture and Standards Compliance: Implement solutions in accordance with established architecture, security, and platform standards. Identify gaps and recommend reusable approaches rather than creating isolated workarounds.
  • Continuous Improvement: Deliver platform features and automation within planned development cycles, improve infrastructure-as-code adoption, and minimize rework caused by deviations from established standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to share knowledge, address technical challenges, and progressively take ownership of platform components.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least four years of professional experience, an associate degree and at least seven years of experience, or a high school diploma and at least nine years of experience. A minimum of three years of professional experience in infrastructure and platform engineering or IT is required. Relevant military experience is considered equivalent to professional experience.
  • Technical Foundations: Hands-on experience with infrastructure and platform engineering, IT operations, or related technical environments, with the ability to implement and maintain shared infrastructure components.
  • CI/CD and Automation: Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, infrastructure-as-code practices, container technologies, scripting, and automation.
  • Programming and Version Control: Practical scripting skills in languages such as Python or Bash, along with disciplined use of version control systems.
  • Monitoring and Reliability: Exposure to production service operations, monitoring and alerting tools, incident management, and participation in on-call support.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure Knowledge: Understanding of modern infrastructure environments and the ability to follow established architectural patterns, operational procedures, and engineering standards.
  • Preferred Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, or another STEM discipline is advantageous.
  • Preferred Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer, Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate, or Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, are a plus.
  • Collaboration and Mindset: A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving, strong teamwork and communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn from senior technical colleagues.
  • Adaptability: Comfort working within a lean, standards-driven engineering team, balancing delivery commitments with reliability and documentation requirements.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in aerospace, defense, or another regulated or export-controlled environment is beneficial.
  • Work Authorization: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Because the role involves access to U.S. export-controlled information, candidates must also qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable regulations, including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and individuals granted qualifying asylee or refugee status.

Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: Annual base salary ranging from $112,000 to $165,000, depending on qualifications, experience, education, skills, and other relevant factors.
  • Additional Compensation: Eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus based on the applicable compensation plan.
  • Comprehensive Healthcare: Medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage.
  • Health and Wellbeing: Access to health coaching resources and a confidential Employee Assistance Program offering assessment, counseling, and referral services.
  • Retirement Savings: Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions and additional company retirement contributions.
  • Financial Planning: Access to retirement planning resources and financial consultants.
  • Paid Time Off: Paid vacation and sick leave.
  • Family Support: Paid parental leave and adoption assistance.
  • Insurance Protection: Life insurance and disability insurance.
  • Professional Development: Tuition assistance and opportunities to develop technical expertise, strengthen platform engineering skills, and grow into broader responsibilities.
  • Remote Work: A fully remote work arrangement, providing flexibility in how you organize your work.
  • Career Growth: Opportunities to learn from experienced engineers, gain practical exposure to SRE and platform operations, and progressively expand ownership of shared infrastructure.
  • Relocation: Relocation assistance is not provided.
