About the Role
The GBA Core Infrastructure / Deposits team builds and operates the platform that makes Nubank accounts work. Whenever money enters or leaves an account, our systems create and manage the deposit records behind balances, calculate yield and taxes, and make funds available for payments, transfers, Pix, debit card purchases and other customer transactions.
We are evolving country-specific legacy systems into a global deposits platform that can support different products, regulations and markets with less duplication and safer expansion. This is a backend transactional systems role at the intersection of distributed systems, accounting, regulation and product platforms.
As a Staff Software Engineer — Deposits, you will be one of the team’s primary technical leaders, shaping the platform’s medium- and long-term evolution while remaining hands-on in the most critical and complex areas.
You’ll be Responsible for
Defining and evolving the target architecture and technical strategy for the global Deposits platform.
Guiding the next stages of the platform and sequencing migrations from legacy systems while balancing safety, business priorities, regulatory requirements and sustainable delivery.
Setting a high technical bar for distributed transaction processing, accounting integrity, yield and tax calculations, reliability, observability and operational recovery.
Leading high-impact technical decisions across services and markets, making trade-offs explicit and driving decisions to closure.
Representing Deposits in cross-team alignment with Product, other platform owners and senior stakeholders.
Turning ambiguous problems into clear technical direction through RFCs, design documents, migration plans, decision records and executable milestones.
Multiplying the team through mentoring, architecture reviews, code reviews and reusable engineering standards.
Remaining hands-on and leading by example on the platform’s most critical or complex components
