Staff Software Engineer HR Experiences
Summary
Build HR experiences for employers and employees using Ruby on Rails and React, develop AI tools for HR workflows, and mentor engineers.
You will build HR experiences for employers and employees across the full product lifecycle. You will develop AI tools and agents for HR Partners, write frontend code, design backend APIs, scale Ruby on Rails and React applications, collaborate on product development, and mentor engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and test employer-facing and employee-facing HR experiences
- Build AI tools and agents that scale HR Partner workflows
- Mentor engineers
- Scale Ruby on Rails and JavaScript/React applications
- Collaborate with Product Management, Data, Design, and Platform Engineering teams
- Prototype, iterate, and launch customer products
Requirements
- 8+ years of software development experience
- Experience building products in regulated or compliance-heavy domains such as HR, payroll, benefits, or tax preferred
- Experience owning multi-quarter projects with measurable customer impact
- Experience driving large cross-functional projects end-to-end through ambiguity
- Experience using agentic coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex
- Experience building agents and MCP tools
- Ability to mentor engineers
- Experience with or interest in Ruby on Rails
- Ability to build well-structured, maintainable, well-documented code
- Ability to communicate across engineering teams and with business stakeholders
