Staff Software Engineer - Showcase Platform (Ruby/Rails)
You will design, develop, and maintain end-to-end solutions for Showcase, Huntress's internal demo platform, primarily using Ruby on Rails. You will define and drive technical direction for user experiences, experimentation surfaces, and platform capabilities, while building instrumentation, analytics, and monitoring workflows. You will partner with Product, Sales Engineers, and peer engineering teams to translate roadmap goals into scalable technical work, improve reliability, and reduce friction for users. You will act as a technical thought leader, mentor engineers, lead code reviews, break down ambiguous problems, and collaborate across the full stack, using AI coding tools to accelerate your development.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end Showcase solutions using Ruby on Rails
- Define and drive technical direction for Showcase initiatives
- Build and improve instrumentation, analytics, and monitoring workflows
- Partner with Product and peer engineering teams to translate roadmap goals into scalable technical work
- Use data and engineering judgment to improve workflows and ensure a reliable user experience
- Provide architectural and design direction and shape long-term engineering strategy
- Improve solution quality through code reviews, testing, and strong engineering practices
- Set standards for excellence and develop processes that make the team more effective
- Break down ambiguous problems, validate designs, and mentor engineers
- Collaborate across the stack between UI, backend systems, data models, and internal integrations
Requirements
- 10+ years building and evolving complex software products at staff-level scope
- Deep expertise in building and scaling production Ruby on Rails systems (min 5 years)
- Experience with relational data models and production databases in Rails applications
- Proven ability to lead through ambiguity and set technical direction
- Experience building internal and stakeholder-facing product experiences
- Strong product and systems thinking
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong coaching mindset with demonstrated ability to mentor engineers
- Experience with AI coding tools and workflows
- Preferred: experience in the cybersecurity industry
- Preferred: experience with external APIs, particularly REST APIs and modern authentication and authorization flows
- Preferred: experience with analytics, experimentation, or product-led growth workflows
- Preferred: experience with ClickHouse, Redis, ElasticSearch, or MongoDB
