- The Stateroom Steward is responsible for consistently delivering guest stateroom service, cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and product standards that align with the Rooms Division's brand standards, HESS protocols, and KPI goals. They are accountable for addressing any shortfalls in product delivery that may negatively impact the guest experience and are responsible for providing timely, effective, and personalized resolutions to guest requests and concerns.
- The Stateroom Steward also supports the development, implementation, and execution of initiatives in alignment with the Rooms Division leadership team. They anticipate and take ownership of guest needs and requests, and follow up on maintenance issues for timely resolution. They are knowledgeable about ship products, services, itinerary, and port information, and use consumable items, stateroom supplies, linen, and cleaning chemicals responsibly.
- The Stateroom Steward also takes every opportunity to upsell ship services, specialty dining outlets, and beverage options. They are knowledgeable about the Rooms Division's Shared Purpose, Core Values, and CRUISE Service Essentials, share best practices and efficiencies with the leadership team, and embrace company updates and strategies to deliver on their guest experience commitment. They complete mandatory and structured training programs to enhance their roles and prepare them for career path opportunities.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in housekeeping operations within a comparable hospitality environment, such as a hotel or cruise ship.
- Experience in an equivalent role with responsibility for servicing guest rooms/staterooms, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, organization, and presentation.
- Prior experience in a premium or luxury hospitality environment is strongly preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Public Health, Environmental, and Sanitation standards pertaining to stateroom servicing.
- Ability to consistently apply cleaning procedures, hygiene protocols, and safety standards in line with company and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with inspection processes and quality standards expected in high-end hospitality environments.
- Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with guests and colleagues in a multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in Japanese, both verbal and written, to support Japanese-speaking guests and deliver a personalized service experience.
- Strong understanding of the fundamentals of guest service, with the ability and willingness to consistently deliver exceptional service standards.
- Proven ability to anticipate guest needs, personalize interactions, and create memorable experiences.
- Natural inclination to “surprise and delight” guests, exceeding expectations throughout their cruise journey.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently and effectively with guests and team members.
