Our Strategic Finance Managers have a high degree of autonomy and discretion as they support the S151 Officer in financial advice and controls across the Council. We are looking for someone who is able to work in a complex, ambitious organisation and can balance the challenges of new initiatives with sound financial advice.
We are looking for someone who is professional, enthusiastic and motivated who can:
- Provide Strategic Financial business partnership to the senior leadership team
- Analyse, summarise and communicate financial implications of complex projects and budgets to a range of stakeholders.
- Shape and challenge the development of financial plans.
- Lead and develop a professional finance team
- Contribute and develop the finance team’s continuous improvement ambitions, improving data management and reporting solutions
Essential skills and Knowledge
- Qualifications & Experience: You are CCAB qualified with significant relevant experience in financial accounting, experience of managing teams to deliver successful outcomes.
- Financial Management and Advice: You have a strong understanding of strategic financial planning, and ability to translate this to medium-term financial planning. You are able to demonstrate a sound understanding of the local government legislative and regulatory framework in your financial advice.
- Stakeholder engagement: You are able to clearly report key issues to stakeholders to enable informed decision making.
Communication & Collaboration:
- Clear Communication and presenting information: You excel at explaining complex financial information in an easy-to-understand manner to non-financial managers.
- Coaching and mentoring: You foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team, setting clear goals and monitoring performance.
- Relationship Building & collaboration: You have proven ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders and external partners.
