Strategic Sourcing Specialist

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Act as the liaison between Americas’ Sourcing and Group Purchasing
- Develop the interface between the two groups to create ongoing efficiency and cost reductions
- Ensure the maintenance and update of the Group Purchasing tools & processes (Sourcing board, BU/CP file, collaborative action plan, supplier consolidation, NOWC actions, etc.)
- Category Strategy: Develop and execute multi-year-sourcing roadmaps for assigned commodities to align with business growth and production needs and in accordance with the Group Purchasing Strategic Plan
- Maintain commodity or product line knowledge of current industry conditions including:
- Pricing information and trends
- Vendor information
- Manage vendor relationships, including:
- Selection and performance
- Maintaining and growing vendor managed inventory programs.
- Maintain a vendor performance and relationship management program.
- Analyze vendor quality trends and initiate corrective actions as determined.
- Negotiate terms, pricing and delivery/service conditions with vendors. Partner with material buyer/planners, shared service and manufacturing associates as required to accomplish:
- Research products.
- Clarify specifications.
- Document competitive bidding.
- Coordinate and evaluate engineering changes regarding new products and modification to existing products to guarantee that all outside purchased items meet necessary specifications.
- Initiate and lead system enhancement projects.
- Cost & Spend Analysis: Use ERP data and spend analytics to identify cost-saving opportunities and prioritize high-value sourcing projects.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and manage supply chain risks related to geopolitical issues, capacity constraints, or financial stability.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Basic computer knowledge, legal aspects of purchasing.
- Must possess ERP (Oracle) knowledge.
- Ability to communicate effectively with sales representatives and other personnel by phone, in person, or through written communication.
- Negotiation: Proven track record of fact-based negotiations
- Work under pressure in a detailed and organized manner.
- Assimilate information to make decisive decisions.
- Able to work in a team environment.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong business acumen.
- Availability to travel.
WHAT’S NEEDED FOR YOU TO THRIVE:
- Must be classified as a commodity (or product line) expert.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Mgmt., business or technical field preferred.
- Three to five years as a buyer or any combination of experience, education, or training that would provide the level of knowledge, skill, and ability required.
- Multi-lingual preferred.
