Surface Technician (3rd Shift) - Berea, OH
Shift: 10:30pm-7:00am; M-F
Rate: $21.85 per hour
Summary
Join our manufacturing team as a Surface Technician, where you'll be responsible for operating and maintaining critical surface processing equipment to ensure optimal production performance. This hands-on role involves troubleshooting equipment errors, implementing preventive maintenance protocols, and maintaining the highest standards of equipment functionality and cleanliness. You'll work in a dynamic manufacturing environment, contributing to operational efficiency and product quality while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities (Will Train)
• Maintain operational status of assigned surface equipment
• Clear equipment errors and perform restarts
• Load consumables (alloy, blocks, pads, polish)
• Keep equipment and work area clean
• Participate in scheduled equipment maintenance
• Report equipment malfunctions and quality issues to management
• Assist with calibration, setup, and light maintenance
• Record process data accurately
• Support other lab operations as needed
Key Skills Required

• Proficiency in English (reading/writing)
• Computer skills (Windows, MS Office)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
• Flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holidays
Experience Preferred
• Optical industry experience (ophthalmic lenses)
• Automated equipment, CNC, or computer operation
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods
• Frequent reaching, bending, and occasional sitting
• Lift up to 25 pounds regularly
• Close vision and focus adjustment abilities required
