Survey Field Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

As Survey Field Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing crews on survey projects. Provide the necessary planning, direction, organization, control and obtain the necessary field data to meet the objectives of the field department of SSMC.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provide full oversight for all staff members assigned to the survey field department.
  • Provide for field review of work performed by those under manager's direction.
  • Provide daily guidance and direction to field personnel, including feedback on performance.
  • Provide proper training and support to field staff in survey procedures, as necessary.
  • Ensure that assigned vehicles are properly maintained in accordance with company policies.
  • Oversee inventory or ordinary daily field supplies and additional equipment that needs to be purchased.
  • Responsible for security, maintenance, and availability of all field equipment/safety supplies assigned to the field team.
  • Ensure all assigned project job folders are complete with necessary research information, scope of work, work order, schedule for completion, and necessary forms. Job folders are returned and organized to the office each evening with electronic notes, field books, etc. Either a written or oral report of the job's status is given to the appropriate manager.
  • Responsible for accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all fieldwork data obtained for a particular project under his/her direction and as dictated by the scope of work and or verbal details discussed with managers.
  • Ensure that all electronic data is properly dumped into the computer and documented accordingly.
  • Maintain positive external relationships consistent with the company's objective, operating philosophy, and desired image. This includes client relations, public relations, and community relations.
  • Reports any accidents, be it personal, employee, or equipment related to the appropriate manager. If work related a notice of injury and incident report must be completed.
  • Obtain field data according to the scope of work or verbal details discussed with the PM of the project.
  • Strive to maintain the highest level of safety while in the field and encourage your team members to do the same.
  • Responsible for visiting assigned locations on a regular basis to monitor performance, address daily operations issues, communicate policy changes, or company information, adjust staffing schedules as needed, and make post inspections to ensure professional image and quality standards are being maintained
  • Guide the field crew members in the performance of their duties and mentor and coach them to advance within the survey profession as their individual abilities allow.
  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment, adhering to organization standards and policies and to legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential concerns.
  • Provide yearly reviews that address performance and growth for each member assigned under the manager's direction.
  • Maintain and supervise personnel, building teamwork, and addressing interpersonal issues in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled meetings.
  • Accommodate client and job site needs by responding to all inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Occasionally work in the field performing surveying tasks.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment Required (i.e., Safety Boots).
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and must maintain eligibility to drive as per the Company Vehicle policy.
  • Continually strive to maintain technical knowledge of industry standards.
  • May perform light office duties including but not limited to filing, making copies, and scanning.

May carry out other duties as assigned by management.
