We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team.

In this role, you will:

Role purpose
Reporting to the Head of Business Development (GCB3), you will originate and advance Mid-Market Enterprise (MME) opportunities, with a clear focus on supporting Mainland enterprises to "go international". You'll lead disciplined origination efforts, work closely with coverage and CIB/product teams to improve conversion and product penetration, and demonstrate strong controls, conduct and risk management across all business development activities.

Role level (SVP/VP) will be determined based on candidate experience and demonstrated scope and impact.

Key responsibilities
• Develop and deliver an origination plan to grow the Mid-Market portfolio, with a focus on Chinese mainland enterprises expanding internationally, and deliver measurable origination results.
• Proactively source, identify, qualify and progress new-to-bank opportunities through structured outreach and rigorous pipeline management.
• Understand client needs and mobilise internal specialists to shape solutions that drive improved conversion, client activation and deeper product penetration.
• Serve as a key link between Chinese mainland client requirements and Hong Kong coverage teams, ensuring clear ownership, effective collaboration and smooth handovers.
• Run strong pipeline governance, including prioritisation, cadence, reporting and timely escalation of issues to maintain momentum and deliver at pace.
• Gather and share market insights and client feedback to support proposition enhancement and go-to-market activity.
• Role-model a customer-centric, controls-led approach, maintaining high standards of conduct, service consistency and risk management
• For SVP, take broader ownership of complex opportunities and initiatives, coach colleagues where appropriate, and help embed origination routines and performance standards across the team

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

• Demonstrated business development/origination experience in corporate or commercial banking, with a track record of delivering sustainable growth outcomes.
• Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans, KPIs and governance routines.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence across coverage, CIB/product, risk and operations teams in a cross-border environment.
• Solid understanding of the Chinese mainland–Hong Kong corridor and the needs of clients expanding internationally.
• Proven controls and risk discipline, including strong conduct awareness and a consistent due diligence mind-set.
• SVP candidates typically bring deeper experience in leading complex opportunities, operating with greater autonomy, and uplifting team performance through coaching
