We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented System Engineer I to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for an early-career systems professional who is passionate about technology, server administration, and maintaining reliable computing environments. You will play a key role in supporting, monitoring, and optimizing Windows and Unix-based systems while helping ensure system performance, availability, and security across the organization.
What You'll Do
As a Systems Engineer I, you will:
- Install, configure, maintain, and support Windows and/or Unix-based operating systems, hardware, and related utilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware and software issues.
- Monitor server performance and system activities to ensure optimal operation and security.
- Fine-tune system parameters and configurations to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Perform capacity planning and analysis, including monitoring and managing disk space utilization.
- Develop and maintain operational procedures for routine administration tasks, including system backups, restores, startups, and shutdowns.
- Identify opportunities to improve the server environment by recommending enhancements related to capacity management, security, patch management, and hardware lifecycle planning.
- Participate in system integration testing and support infrastructure projects as assigned.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and ethical standards while supporting our mission and values.
- Maintain consistent attendance and collaboration with team members to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field; or
- One to two years of related systems administration or engineering experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Preferred Skills
- Working knowledge of Windows Server and/or Unix/Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with server hardware, operating system administration, and troubleshooting methodologies.
- Understanding of system performance monitoring, security best practices, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation abilities.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
