About the role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced System Engineer to join our IT Support team on a full-time basis in the Central and Western District. This is a strategic position that plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our systems and infrastructure. As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and supporting our IT systems whilst working collaboratively with the broader IT team to deliver high-quality technical solutions that enable our organisation to operate effectively.
Key responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain enterprise systems and infrastructure to support organisational operations
Monitor system performance, security, and availability, ensuring optimal uptime and reliability
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for complex IT issues across the organisation
Install, configure, and upgrade hardware, software, and operating systems
Manage user access, permissions, and IT security protocols to protect organisational data
Document system configurations, procedures, and technical specifications for future reference
Collaborate with other IT professionals to plan and execute system improvements and migrations
Respond promptly to system incidents and implement preventative measures to minimise downtime
Maintain system patches, updates, and security measures in line with industry best practices
Provide technical guidance and support to end users when required
What we're looking for
Proven experience as a System Engineer or in a similar IT systems support role
Strong knowledge of operating systems, including Windows Server and Linux environments
Hands-on experience with system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting
Proficiency in network management and understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP protocols
Experience with virtualisation technologies and cloud-based infrastructure
Solid understanding of IT security principles and best practices
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure
Strong communication abilities with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively to a team environment
