System Inspector (Automotive) ( 2 years Contract)
Summary
Inspects and maintains vehicles and equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness, performing preventive and corrective maintenance while mentoring junior technicians.
Job Description:
- Conduct inspections and condition assessments of vehicles and equipment to identify defects, ensure serviceability, and maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Execute and oversee preventive maintenance programmes, ensuring all scheduled servicing activities are completed on time and in accordance with approved maintenance procedures.
- Perform and coordinate corrective maintenance activities, including fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair recommendations, and restoration of equipment to operational readiness with minimal downtime.
- Monitor maintenance quality and technical standards, ensuring all maintenance work complies with established guidelines, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation, including inspection reports, service histories, defect records, and technical reports to support audits and compliance requirements.
- Provide cross-location technical support by assisting other sites with manpower requirements, complex troubleshooting, specialized maintenance activities, and the implementation of consistent maintenance standards.
- Support operational readiness and ad hoc taskings, including equipment activation, mobilization activities, readiness inspections, and on-site technical support during operational deployments.
- Develop and maintain professional competency, progressively attaining authority-recognized inspection certifications and keeping abreast of evolving technical, regulatory, and maintenance requirements.
- Lead, coach, and mentor junior technicians, conducting structured training, on-the-job coaching, technical knowledge sharing, and competency assessments to build workforce capability and readiness.
- Promote a strong safety and performance culture by demonstrating leadership, upholding high standards of workmanship, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and fostering continuous improvement within the maintenance team.
Job Requirements:
- Diploma / Nitec / Higher Nitec in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 to 6 years of experience in vehicle, tracked vehicle, or equipment maintenance.
- Experience in inspections and managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicle systems and mechanical equipment.
- Good diagnostic, fault-finding, and troubleshooting skills.
- Sound understanding of maintenance standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficient in maintenance documentation, reporting, and digital record-keeping systems.
- Strong supervisory, coaching, and mentoring capabilities.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to different operational environments, and support urgent operational requirements.
