About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Systems Engineer to join our Wellington based team.

This is a hands-on, client-facing role responsible for delivering technical support, project implementation, infrastructure management, cloud services, networking, and cybersecurity solutions across a diverse range of customer environments.

As a trusted technical advisor, you will work closely with our customers to understand their requirements, troubleshoot complex issues, deliver projects, and provide guidance on technology improvements that align with their business objectives. Working across multiple customer environments, this role offers a varied workload encompassing operational support, project delivery, cybersecurity, cloud services, and customer engagement.

You will play an important role in ensuring our customers' environments remain secure, resilient, and optimised while contributing to the continuous improvement of our service offerings.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to customers, both remotely and onsite.

  • Manage, maintain, and optimise complex customer IT environments.

  • Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records, and knowledge base articles.

  • Configure and support networking technologies including firewalls, switches, wireless networks, VPNs, and VLANs across multiple vendor platforms.

  • Implement, manage, and support Microsoft 365 environments.

  • Design and support hybrid identity solutions including Microsoft Entra ID, Entra Connect, Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Conditional Access.

  • Manage user identities, access controls, and security policies to maintain compliance and protect customer environments.

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, backup, and security services.

  • Implement and support endpoint management solutions including Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.

  • Monitor, identify, and remediate cybersecurity risks across customer environments.

  • Implement and maintain security best practices aligned with Zero Trust principles, Microsoft Secure Score recommendations, and industry standards.

  • Assist with cybersecurity incident response, investigations, and remediation activities.

  • Support and administer Microsoft security technologies including Microsoft Defender, Conditional Access, and endpoint protection solutions.

  • Assist with infrastructure deployments, migrations, upgrades, and cloud transformation projects.

  • Prepare detailed implementation plans, technical documentation, change records, and post-implementation reports.

  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and Microsoft administration tools to improve operational efficiency.

  • Participate in customer review meetings and provide technical recommendations, roadmaps, and improvement opportunities.

  • Work closely with Account Managers to identify technology enhancement, upgrade, and security improvement opportunities.

  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Mentor and support other team members, contributing to a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.


About You

You are a passionate technology professional who enjoys solving complex problems, working directly with customers, and delivering secure, practical, and reliable technology solutions.

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a Level 2/3 Systems Engineer role within an MSP or multi-customer environment.

  • Strong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft technologies including: Microsoft 365 , Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Microsoft Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Windows Server

  • Proven experience deploying and managing Azure infrastructure and cloud services.

  • Strong networking expertise across multiple vendor platforms, including: Firewalls, Switching, Wireless networking, VPNs, VLANs, Routing and network troubleshooting

  • Experience implementing and supporting cybersecurity technologies and frameworks.

  • Strong understanding of MFA, Conditional Access, Zero Trust security principles, Microsoft Defender, Vulnerability management and Endpoint security

  • Experience delivering infrastructure, cloud, networking, and security projects from design through to implementation and handover.

  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills across desktop, server, cloud, security, and networking technologies.

  • Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.

  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience would be highly advantageous.

  • Understanding of the opportunities, risks, and governance considerations associated with AI technologies, including the responsible use of AI in business environments.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.


Desirable

  • Relevant Microsoft Certifications (such as Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Administrator Associate, Identity and Access Administrator Associate)

  • Security Certifications ( such as CompTIA Security+, Fortinet NSE / FCP)

  • CompTIA Network+

  • ITIL Foundation
