Systems Engineer – Mining | DIDO | 1 Week On / 1 Week Off

We’re looking for an experienced Systems Engineer to join our team supporting a key mining client in Central Queensland.

This is a drive-in/drive-out (DIDO) opportunity suited to someone based around Blackwater, Emerald, Mackay or surrounding areas, with the ability to travel to site for their rostered week.

You’ll be working in a hands-on infrastructure environment supporting critical server, cloud and network systems. The role is primarily L2 with a pathway towards L3, with opportunities to take on more project work and build your technical capability as you develop in the role.

The Roster Week 1: 10-hour days onsite at the mine, supporting BAU, infrastructure, escalations and project work.

Week 2: Normal working hours from home, focusing on monitoring, administration, change management and remote support across mining clients.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Support and maintain server, virtualisation and cloud infrastructure
• Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and Microsoft Cloud Services
• Support network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless and VPNs
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex L2/L3 escalations
• Take a proactive approach to identifying issues and carrying out root cause analysis
• Assist with infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, deployments and lifecycle replacements
• Manage backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
• Work closely with onsite technicians and client stakeholders
• Provide remote infrastructure support to other mining accounts during WFH weeks
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and change records
• Work within mine site safety requirements and operational procedures

What You’ll Bring

• Experience as a Systems Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer, Senior Systems Administrator or similar
• Previous mining experience is required
• Strong experience across Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows Server, Active Directory and Entra ID
• Solid networking knowledge across TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless, firewalls and VPNs
• Experience with VMware or Hyper-V
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery and monitoring solutions
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• A proactive approach to BAU support and infrastructure management
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues
• Strong communication skills when working with technical teams and clients
• Current Australian driver's licence and ability to travel to mine sites
• Ability to complete and pass a pre-employment medical, including regular drug and alcohol testing

Desirable

• Current Coal Board Medical (CBM) and/or Standard 11
• Experience with Halo PSA or similar PSA
• Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-800/801 or equivalent
• Experience with Ninja RMM, Auvik or similar monitoring platforms
