JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Engineer supports OnPoint’s operational resilience by designing, maintaining, and improving secure, reliable infrastructure systems that enable employees, members, and business teams to work effectively.
As a member of the Technical Operations team, the Senior Systems Engineer is a role that requires hands-on expertise and independent action. This role reports to the Infrastructure Manager and provides tactical guidance for the design, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of all systems and infrastructure services at OnPoint Community Credit Union. This means ensuring high availability, performance, observability, and security for IT systems and infrastructure. Additionally, the Systems Engineer will participate in projects related to system implementations, upgrades, and migrations involving one or more teams.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for engineering topics and challenges.
- Engineer and enforce best practices for systems and infrastructure.
- Perform business-critical technical functions, including cloud engineering, systems engineering, data center management, configuration and management of observability tools, patching and vulnerability management, incident response and resolution, documentation and reporting, and security compliance.
- Actively recommend, design, and implement enhancements to current tools and technologies.
- Coordinate, collaborate, and execute on Infrastructure Systems projects that may require in-depth evaluation of complex business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
- Evaluate new technologies and make recommendations for adoption based on business needs and industry trends.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Technologies:
Microsoft 365 - Exchange Online, Teams, Sharepoint/OneDrive, and Copilot
Microsoft Identity - Active Directory, EntraID, PIM/RBAC, and Conditional Access
Configuration Management - Azure Arc, Intune, and Group Policy
Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux Operating Systems
Experience with scripting and automation are preferred:
Powershell
Bicep
ARM Templates/Blueprints
Strong experience with delivering and engineering solutions that support High Availability, Disaster Recovery, and Business Continuity.
Strong experience with Enterprise-level and fundamental Infrastructure Technologies:
Data Centers
Hypervisors & Virtualization
Storage and Backups
DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)
Monitoring and Observability
Networking
Proven track record of contributing to complex IT projects from conception to completion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
Ability to leverage and implement AI tooling to support job responsibilities and functions.
MIN QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred.
- 2-3+ years of experience in systems engineering roles.
- Relevant certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, M365 Administrator Expert, VMWare VCP-DCV, or comparable certifications.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Relevant advanced technical certifications or equivalent demonstrated experience.
