This role provides technical leadership for integration initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards, business objectives, and project delivery commitments.
The IT Systems Integration Architect serves as the primary subject matter expert for Azure Integration Services and integration best practices, working closely with business stakeholders, project managers, developers, infrastructure teams, and external partners to define integration strategies and deliver scalable, secure, and reliable solutions. The role combines deep technical architecture expertise with strong project management capabilities to successfully lead integration projects from conception through implementation. This role reports directly to the Director, IT Systems Integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Architecture & Solution Design
Define and maintain the enterprise integration architecture strategy and roadmap.
Architect and design scalable integration solutions using Azure Integration Services, including Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, API Management, Event Grid, Event Hubs, Azure Functions, and Azure Storage.
Develop integration patterns, standards, and reusable frameworks to ensure consistency across projects.
Design API-led and event-driven architectures to support business and partner integrations.
Produce high-level and detailed solution architecture documents, system diagrams, technical specifications, and integration design artifacts.
Establish security, compliance, and governance standards for integration solutions.
Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations to improve integration capabilities and operational efficiency.
Project Leadership & Delivery
Lead integration workstreams for enterprise projects and strategic initiatives.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Estimate effort, identify dependencies, manage risks, and provide project planning support.
Facilitate architecture reviews, design workshops, and technical discussions with stakeholders and delivery teams.
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with architecture standards.
Support Agile delivery practices and participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release planning activities.
Provide technical oversight during development, testing, deployment, and post-production support.
Azure DevOps, Automation & Platform Engineering
Define and govern Azure DevOps standards, branching strategies, release management processes, and deployment frameworks across integration initiatives.
Architect and implement CI/CD pipelines for Azure Integration Services, ensuring consistent, automated, and repeatable deployments across Development, Testing, and Production environments.
Establish Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards using Bicep, ARM Templates, and Terraform to automate provisioning and configuration of Azure resources.
Design automated deployment strategies for Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus, Azure Functions, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, and supporting Azure services.
Implement DevSecOps practices by incorporating security scans, code quality gates, vulnerability management, and compliance controls into deployment pipelines.
Define source control and branching strategies using Git, including feature branching, pull requests, code reviews, and release workflows.
Establish automated testing frameworks including unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and deployment validation processes.
Lead the adoption of Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, and Continuous Monitoring practices to improve solution quality and release velocity.
Design environment management strategies, including configuration management, secrets management, and promotion of artifacts across environments.
Work closely with development and operations teams to establish Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and operational excellence practices.
Implement monitoring and observability solutions using Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics, and custom dashboards.
Champion automation initiatives that reduce manual effort, improve deployment reliability, and accelerate project delivery.
Define disaster recovery, rollback, and deployment recovery procedures for mission-critical integration solutions.
Establish Azure DevOps governance policies, including work item management, sprint planning, backlog management, release approvals, and traceability between requirements and deployments.
Provide architecture oversight for Agile delivery teams, ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture standards and DevOps best practices.
Measure and report on delivery performance using KPIs such as deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, platform availability, and mean time to recovery (MTTR).
