Talent Pool - Legal Office Assistants & Paralegals - September to November 2027
NewBe an early applicantAbout the role
Legal Office Assistants (LOAs) support Legal Secretaries with administrative duties and support Lawyers with quasi-paralegal tasks including occasional research, together with general office services duties assisting the Office Manager and the wider office. Your responsibilities could include Court filing, collating briefs to counsel, hand deliveries, mail distribution, archiving, replenishing stationery and staff kitchen supplies, photocopying and faxing, and other administrative tasks. LOA roles are an excellent opportunity for first and second year law students without prior office or legal experience who are keen to get their foot in the door at a law firm.
Paralegals have the opportunity to complete more complex legal tasks, including research, the discovery of documents, providing chronologies, drafting legal documents such as affidavits, attending mediations and informal settlements, and learning how to record your time efficiently. Paralegal roles are suitable for later year law students who have previously worked with us in an LOA capacity, or who have gained paralegal or legal assistant experience elsewhere.
LOA and Paralegal roles are casual positions, and a degree of flexibility is offered accordingly. We encourage and expect our LOAs and Paralegals to take time off during exam periods. We also anticipate that the availability of LOAs and Paralegals will change from semester to semester.
About you
You will be a law student who is available to work at least two full days per week during your study semester.
We are looking for team players with strong communication skills and impeccable worth ethics. You will have a mature outlook, confidence and the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst prioritising a busy daily workload. Other qualities we look for include initiative and good judgement, organisational skills, enthusiasm, and attention to detail.
