Tanium Engineer
Roles & Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, administer and maintain Tanium Core and the associated modules in scope.
- Lead and execute enterprise patching operations using Tanium Patch, including patch strategy, scheduling, ring/wave deployment, remediation, compliance reporting, and exception handling.
- Design and implement patching workflows for databases using Tanium, ensuring minimal disruption and adherence to maintenance windows and change control.
- Build and manage sensors, packages, saved questions, dashboards and automated actions to support operational and compliance needs.
- Configure and maintain integrations via Tanium Connect (e.g., SIEM, CMDB, ITSM, and data lake platforms).
- Develop reporting and trending dashboards using Reporting and Trends to provide visibility into endpoint health, patch compliance, and configuration posture.
- Support asset inventory, discovery, software deployment, and compliance operations across the module suite.
- Troubleshoot Tanium client, server and module performance issues and tune the environment for scale and reliability.
- Partner with security, infrastructure, database and operations teams to align Tanium capabilities with business and compliance requirements.
- Document architecture, standard operating procedures and runbooks, and provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to internal teams.
Skills/Requirement
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Tanium.
- Strong working knowledge of Tanium Core and the modules in scope: Asset, Automate, Connect, Discover, Engage, Interact, Reporting, Trends, Deploy, Patch, Performance and Comply.
- Deep, demonstrable expertise in Tanium Patch, including large-scale patch deployment and remediation.
- Proven experience patching databases using Tanium.
- Solid understanding of endpoint management, patch management lifecycles and compliance frameworks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows and Linux endpoints.
- Ability to write and interpret Tanium sensors, packages, and queries.
