Technical Business Analyst - Defence ERP
Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.
Downer Professional Services is comprised of two business units, our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice and Team Downer, a major service partner to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for our clients in Defence and National Security.
We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Business Analyst in Canberra, ACT to work on Defence ERP project providing SME advice on maintenance and engineering processes in sustainment with Defence.
What You’ll Do
These roles offer a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:
- Support the uplift, standardisation, and governance of engineering and asset management processes within Defence ERP environments.
- Provide subject matter expertise on maintenance and engineering processes in sustainment with Defence.
- Collaborate with Defence stakeholders, SAP functional SMEs, and technical teams to translate business requirements into structured process designs.
- Produce high-quality documentation including process maps, work instructions, and operating procedures.
- Support data migration, ETL activities, master data management, and governance practices to improve asset, maintenance, and engineering data quality.
- Develop process documentation, facilitate workshops, support testing and change activities, and provide data-driven insights to support informed decision-making.
What You’ll Bring
- Extensive experience working within SAP ERP environments, ideally supporting Defence, engineering, maintenance, or other asset-intensive organisations.
Demonstrated understanding of maintenance and engineering business processes, ideally within an acquisitions program or sustainment organisation.
Proven experience in data management, ETL processes, and data governance
Experience with SAP S/4HANA transformation or sustainment
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance, engineering, and asset management business processes, including alignment with industry best practice frameworks.
- Proven business analysis capability, including requirements elicitation, process mapping, stakeholder engagement, and solution design.
Due to the nature of the work, the successful applicant must hold and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance, as required by the Commonwealth. In some cases, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) may also be required.
