About NECA
The National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) is the peak industry body representing electrical and communications contractors across Australia. For more than 100 years, we have supported our industry through advocacy, technical advice, workplace relations, legal and WHS support, training, apprenticeships and business services.
As a not-for-profit, member-led organisation, our focus is on helping members build safer, stronger and more successful businesses while raising standards and supporting the future of Australia’s electrotechnology industry.
About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on Technical Business Analyst to help improve the systems and processes supporting NECA’s National and State operations.
Reporting to the Head of IT, you’ll work directly with business teams to understand what needs improving, turn that into clear requirements and help deliver the changes. The work will range from simplifying manual processes and improving CRM workflows to resolving data issues, strengthening automation and improving reporting.
You’ll work primarily with Dynamics 365 CRM, Dataverse and Power Platform, with opportunities to contribute across other business systems and our broader technology improvement program.
You’ll implement practical configuration and low-code changes yourself, with developers and external specialists supporting more complex development and integrations. You’ll own agreed work and have the opportunity to see improvements through from initial discussion to implementation.
What you’ll do
You’ll take ownership of business analysis and system improvement activities from discovery through to delivery and handover, including:
Lead requirements gathering, stakeholder workshops and business process analysis, translating business needs into clear requirements and practical solutions.
Analyse existing processes, identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements through process changes, automation and better use of technology.
Configure, troubleshoot and improve Dynamics 365 CRM, Dataverse and Power Platform, including business rules, forms, views and Power Automate flows.
Investigate system, data and automation issues, identify root causes and implement appropriate fixes or coordinate specialist assistance.
Analyse and reconcile data using Excel, SQL and/or Power Query, and develop or improve operational Power BI reports and dashboards.
Define and validate integration requirements, data mappings, API interactions, error handling and system dependencies, working closely with developers and vendors.
Maintain business process maps, system documentation and integration information, contributing to NECA’s enterprise architecture and continuous improvement.
Coordinate testing, data validation, release readiness and user acceptance to ensure changes meet agreed requirements.
Ensure changes are documented, reliable and supportable, with appropriate handover and knowledge transfer.
What you’ll bring
You may currently be working as a Technical Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, CRM Analyst or Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant. Your practical experience and ability to work with both business and technical teams matter more than your current job title.
We’re looking for:
Demonstrated experience in business analysis, systems analysis or business application improvement, typically gained over four or more years.
Strong stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering and process mapping skills.
Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Dynamics 365 CRM and Dataverse, and creating or maintaining Power Automate flows.
Practical experience with, or exposure to, Power Apps.
Data analysis skills using Excel, SQL and/or Power Query, and the ability to create, modify and troubleshoot operational Power BI reports.
An understanding of APIs, data flows and integrations, including how to investigate issues and work with technical specialists.
Experience taking system changes through testing, business acceptance and handover, working within agreed security and change controls.
Experience with Business Central/NAV, Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps or maintaining architecture documentation would be useful. More advanced Power Platform skills and relevant certifications are also welcome.
You don’t need to be an expert in every platform listed. Strong business analysis skills, practical experience with Microsoft business applications, and sound judgement about when to involve specialists matter most.
Why NECA?
Broad exposure across CRM, business systems, data, integrations and digital initiatives
Opportunity to influence how systems and processes evolve across a national organisation
Active technology and digital transformation program
Hybrid working following onboarding
Competitive salary package
Professional development support
Employee Assistance Program, on-site parking, cafeteria and novated lease options
