Your new role
We’re looking for an experienced Technical Business Analyst for an hourly rate contract through to December 2026.
This is a hands-on Technical BA role where you’ll take complex business requirements and turn them into detailed, build-ready specifications. Your work will span API requirements, user-facing applications and third-party integrations, with a particular focus on supporting bad debtor, collections and write-off processes.
Responsibilities
• Analyse and document functional and non-functional API requirements
• Define API request and response payloads, validation rules, error handling and security requirements
• Document integration patterns and produce build-ready API specifications
• Validate API designs against customer, account, collections, write-off and reporting requirements
• Elicit and document requirements for maintenance and enquiry screens
• Define screen layouts, field requirements, business rules, permissions, workflows and audit requirements
• Translate business processes into detailed user stories and acceptance criteria
• Analyse integrations with external collection partners and related systems
• Document data flows, interface contracts, SFTP and file transfer requirements, dependencies and exception handling
• Assess impacts across upstream and downstream systems and operational processes
• Produce field and data mapping documentation and integration diagrams
• Support architecture, data, development and vendor discussions
• Assist with testing artefacts, requirements traceability and requirements management
• Facilitate stakeholder workshops, walkthroughs and maintain key decisions and outcomes
Requirements
• Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst working on complex technology programmes
• Strong experience defining and documenting REST API requirements and specifications
• Good understanding of request and response structures, validation, security and error handling
• Demonstrated experience analysing system-to-system and third-party integrations
• Experience with integration methods such as APIs, SFTP and file-based interfaces
• Strong data mapping and process modelling capability
• Experience producing detailed user stories and acceptance criteria
• Ability to translate complex business processes into clear technical requirements
• Strong stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills
• Comfortable working with developers, architects, testers, vendors and business stakeholders
• Experience with financial services, collections, debt management, customer or account-based systems would be advantageous
