What This Role Is About
We are looking for a hands-on Technical Business Analyst who works at the intersection of business and data. This is not a theoretical documentation-only BA roleyou will talk directly to business users to understand their reporting needs, write SQL queries yourself by joining tables to build the logic, and hand over clear technical specifications to the Data Engineering and BI teams for implementation.
What You Will Do Day-to-Day
- Partner with Business Teams: Interact directly with business stakeholders to gather, prioritize, and own end-to-end reporting and analytics requirements for your domain.
- Translate Requirements into SQL Logic: Convert business problems into actionable functional and technical specifications (BRDs, FSDs, User Stories, and Data Mappings) backed by SQL queries.
- Design & Enhance Reports: Define reporting objects, standardized KPIs, and transformation rules so multiple teams can consume accurate data.
- Validate Data & Troubleshoot Issues: Write SQL queries to validate reporting outputs, check business calculations, remove duplicates, and resolve data quality or logic issues.
- Drive Delivery & UAT: Perform impact analysis for change requests, coordinate releases with Data Engineering teams, and lead UAT sign-offs and post-production support.
Must-Have Skills (Who Should Apply)
- Strong Hands-On Analytical SQL: You must be able to write queries from scratch without assistance, including Joins (INNER, LEFT, FULL OUTER), Aggregations (GROUP BY, HAVING), CTEs (WITH clause), and Window Functions (ROW_NUMBER, RANK, DENSE_RANK).
- Reporting & Analytics Expertise: Solid understanding of MIS, dashboards, reporting platforms, and how raw data is aggregated into business KPIs (such as Revenue, Orders, Inventory, or Supply Chain metrics).
- Problem-Solving & Debugging: Ability to trace data flows, find root causes of number mismatches, and fix logic gaps quickly.
- Stakeholder & Documentation Skills: Strong communication skills to manage business users independently while maintaining clear BRDs, FSDs, and data mapping sheets.
Good-to-Have Skills (Preferred)
- Retail, E-commerce, FMCG, or Supply Chain domain experience.
- Exposure to Azure Databricks and the Azure Data Ecosystem (ADF, ADLS) or similar cloud data warehouses (BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake).
- Experience working on data migration projects and Agile/Scrum teams.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech), IT, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
- Background: 6-12 years of experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or BI/Reporting Analyst with strong daily SQL usage
