Business/data analyst role on a Marketing IT team supporting Java-based digital marketing and content management platforms in financial services: translating data needs into specs, analyzing workflows and data models, SQL development and data sourcing, and L3 production support. ROLE_DESCRIPTION -
The MSIM Marketing IT Application Developer will be responsible for working across a suite of applications, with hands-on involvement in application design, development, and production support for Java-based application platforms in the fields of digital marketing and content management. The position will report to a Delivery Lead within the Marketing IT team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong leadership qualities and be proactive in taking ownership of initiatives from conception through successful delivery. We are seeking someone who can inspire others, drive results, consistently follow through on commitments, and foster a collaborative team environment.
What you will do:
Partner with various tech and business stakeholders to review data needs and define solutions with strategic data objectives
Translate data requirements into functional specifications and user stories.
Analyze system workflows, integrations and data models across Marketing platforms
Perform data enquiry, data analysis and data sourcing in Relational database environments
Develop a thorough understanding of technology systems, data stores, data pipelines, job streams, and downstream data consumers.
Use AI‑enabled tools to accelerate data mapping, data lineage creation, and data profiling, improving turnaround time and overall data quality.
Respond to queries from business analysts and developers regarding data access, query design, and performance optimization
Troubleshoot data issues and collaborate with data providers and upstream teams to identify root causes and drive resolution. Provide Level 3 (L3) production support as needed.
Modify data sourcing mechanism and related programs to implement changes driven by evolving business requirements
What you will bring
Hands-on experience working with relational databases and SQL development, including Sybase, PostGres.
Working knowledge of Unix bash scripting and/or Python
Strong knowledge of relational databases and data modeling
Strong SQL query-writing skills
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
At least 7 years financial industry technology experience and knowledge of financial services data
Good verbal and written communication skills coupled with a collaborative approach
Desired Skills:
Strong business analysis, requirements gathering, and stakeholder management skills.
Hands-on Experience with Database technologies - proficiency in SQL queries and experience with Sybase, SQL Server, PL/SQL, or PostgreSQL.
Experience with data modeling
Working with APIs, Swagger for data analysis
Experience with Linux shell, Unix/Bash, Python
Experience and understanding of Data Quality Rules and implementation
JSON processing – working with JSON data structures and parsing responses.
Good understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
Agile methodologies – preferably Scrum.
