Summary

Contract Technical Business Analyst (12+12+12 months, 40 hrs/week, $120–145/hr inc. super) via Recruitment Hive for a major federal government department covering climate change, energy, environment and water. Day to day: eliciting, analysing and documenting business, scientific, geospatial and data requirements for a data modernisation programme replacing legacy SQL Server and SSAS/OLAP.

Salary: $120 - $145ph (inc-Super) - weekly pay options

Our client, a major Federal Government department responsible for climate change, energy, environmental protection, heritage and water management, require the services of a Technical Business Analyst.

Duties of the Technical Business Analyst

  • Elicit, analyse, validate & document business, scientific, geospatial, reporting, data, integration & system requirements;
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews & consultations with scientists, environmental specialists, GIS practitioners, reporting analysts, business stakeholders, architects & technical delivery teams;
  • Translate complex business & scientific requirements into clear & actionable artefacts;
  • Analyse & document current-state & future-state business processes, environmental modelling workflows, simulation processes, information flows, system integrations, reporting functions & operational capabilities;
  • Analyse environmental & geospatial datasets, carbon accounting information, simulation inputs & outputs, reporting requirements & associated business rules;
  • Analyse requirements relating to data governance, quality, storage, retention, archiving, lineage, metadata, auditability & reproducibility.

Skills and experience required

  • Strong ability to develop business & technical documentation, including requirements documents, process maps, specifications, integration documentation, user guides, communications, & briefing materials;
  • Experience analysing business processes, data flows, system integrations, information management practices, & records management requirements;
  • An understanding of data governance & archiving principles;
  • Experience working within government, regulatory, or large complex organisations, including delivering business analysis, technical writing, data, integration, or digital transformation initiatives using Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2, or similar project delivery methodologies (desired);
  • Experience using Python, R or similar tools for environmental, scientific or data analysis activities (desired)
  • Demonstrated experience analysing complex scientific, environmental, geospatial or data-intensive business environments, including data governance, metadata, lineage, auditability, reporting requirements and associated business rules (desired).
