Auckland Transport is hiring a Technical Lead Architect to guide solution decisions from concept to operational handover across digital channels, enterprise applications, integration platforms, cloud services and operational transport systems. Day to day: leading designs, architecture decision records, workshops and vendor collaboration.
Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity
As Technical Lead Architect, you will play a critical leadership role within the Architecture Practice, partnering closely with other Architects, delivery teams, vendors and business stakeholders to guide solution decisions from concept through to operational handover.
From customer-facing digital channels and enterprise applications through to integration platforms, cloud services, data products and operational transport systems, your expertise will help shape solutions that support Auckland's growing transport network and community.
Specifically, on most days you will:
- Lead the architecture and design of complex business and technology initiatives.
- Develop solution architectures, high-level designs and Architecture Decision Records to guide delivery teams.
- Translate business outcomes and requirements into end-to-end technology solutions.
- Facilitate architecture workshops, design reviews and stakeholder engagement sessions.
- Define integration patterns, API strategies, data flows, security controls and operational requirements.
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture principles, standards and technology roadmaps.
- Partner with vendors, implementation partners and technical specialists to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Promote reuse of enterprise capabilities, platforms, APIs and architecture patterns.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of architecture standards, governance practices and solution delivery methods.

- 8+ years' experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture or a related architecture discipline.
- Proven experience leading architecture activities across complex business transformation and technology delivery initiatives.
- Strong experience delivering cloud-based, integration and enterprise application solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior business and technology stakeholders.
- Experience working within architecture governance and delivery assurance frameworks.
- Experience working with third-party vendors, implementation partners and managed service providers.
- Strong understanding of modern architecture practices, frameworks and design patterns.
- Experience operating within large and complex enterprise environments.
