Technical Project Manager (m/f/d) Software Projects

Summary

Own end-to-end delivery of robotics software projects, from customer requirements to launch, while leading cross-functional engineering teams and managing scope, budget, and timelines.

We are looking for a motivated Technical Project Manager (m/f/d) to join our fast-paced team at Agile Robots SE. You will own the delivery of our software projects end to end: understanding customer needs, translating them into product features and development work packages, and driving cross-functional engineering teams to deliver. Our projects often start with open technical questions rather than fixed specifications — we are looking for someone with a genuine software or robotics engineering background who can bring structure to uncertainty.
  • Own the delivery of software projects (robot applications, control and system software, tooling) from requirements through to launch, within time, budget, scope, and quality targets
  • Elicit and analyze customer and stakeholder requirements, and translate them into clear feature definitions and technical specifications
  • Break down project goals, including ambiguous or exploratory ones, into structured work packages with clear scope, acceptance criteria, and priorities; re-plan iteratively as findings emerge
  • Define and prioritize the project backlog in alignment with customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Maintain project plans and PM artifacts (risk register, action list, cost plan); proactively manage risks and dependencies
  • Drive transparent communication across team, management, and customers, including regular status reporting
  • 2+ years of project management experience in software development projects (robotics, automation, automotive, IT, or related); a PhD in STEM fields may be considered in lieu of work experience
  • Hands-on engineering experience in software or robotic system development prior to or alongside PM work, you have personally built software or robotic systems, not only managed such projects
  • Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Hands-on experience with agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban), proficiency with Jira and Confluence
  • Solid technical depth in software development practices (architecture, APIs, version control, CI/CD), ideally in robotic or embedded systems
  • Proven requirements engineering skills: converting customer needs into specifications, features, and work packages
  • Strong ownership, organizational skills, and solution focus in a dynamic environment
  • Availability for occasional business travel (approx. 10%), expenses covered
  • PM, Scrum Master, or Product Owner certification (e.g., PMP, PSM, CSPO)
  • Domain knowledge in robotics, industrial automation, or ML-based systems (e.g., manipulation, perception, policy training workflows)
  • Experience with external customers in B2B project delivery
  • Chinese/Japanese language skills
  • You are an engineer at heart who has grown into project management: you have built software or robotic systems yourself and are equally comfortable in a customer meeting and a sprint planning session.
  • You enjoy shaping uncertain goals into concrete features and work packages, take ownership, and stay solution-focused when plans change.
  • An opportunity to be part of a dynamic entrepreneurial team that helps to shape the global industrial robotic landscape
  • Great working environment in an interdisciplinary, international team
  • Ability to gain experience in international projects across different industries
  • Career opportunities within an international and fast-growing environment
  • Corporate benefits program that covers health, mobility, and learning with up to 100 € per month
  • As a startup, we of course also have a rooftop terrace, free drinks & fruits, and regular team events
  • A dynamic high-tech startup combined with financial soundness and world-class investors
  • Challenging tasks and projects
  • Great working environment in an interdisciplinary, international team
  • Room for creativity and personal development
