Technical Sales Engineer

Job Description
* Develop new business opportunities by identifying potential customers, projects, consultants, contractors, and business partners.

* Manage the complete sales process from lead generation and technical qualification through to proposal, quotation, negotiation, order confirmation, and post-sales support.

* Meet customers and conduct site visits to understand project requirements, technical challenges, and operational needs.

* Analyse customer requirements, technical specifications, drawings, and project documents to recommend suitable products and engineering solutions.

* Provide technical consultation and propose cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements and project specifications.

* Prepare technical proposals, product specifications, quotations, tender submissions, presentations, and other sales-related documentation.

* Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and solution briefings for customers, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.

* Liaise with customers to clarify technical requirements, specifications, applications, delivery schedules, and commercial expectations.

* Work closely with the Engineering, Project, Operations, Procurement, and Management teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically feasible and commercially viable.

* Provide technical support during the pre-sales and post-sales stages and assist in resolving product or application-related issues.

* Participate in tender meetings, project discussions, commercial negotiations, and customer presentations.

* Follow up on quotations and proposals, negotiate with customers, and actively work towards securing orders and achieving sales targets.

* Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while identifying opportunities for repeat business, upselling, and cross-selling.

* Monitor project progress and coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth handover from sales to project execution.

* Research market trends, competitor products, pricing, and emerging technologies to identify new business opportunities and maintain market competitiveness.

* Maintain an accurate sales pipeline, customer database, project status, sales forecasts, and activity reports.

* Take ownership of assigned accounts and projects, ensuring timely follow-up and effective customer communication.

* Participate in sales and technical meetings and contribute to business development and sales strategy.

* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Sales Manager or Management.

Requirements

* Diploma or Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

* Preferably 2–5 years of experience in technical sales, engineering sales, project sales, business development, or a related industry.

* Candidates with experience in B2B sales, technical products, engineering systems, projects, or solutions will have an added advantage.

* Good understanding of engineering concepts and the ability to understand and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and project requirements.

* Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

* Good analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate customer requirements into practical technical solutions.

* Able to communicate effectively with customers, consultants, contractors, engineers, and internal teams.

* Self-motivated, proactive, result-oriented, and willing to take ownership of sales opportunities and projects.

* Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

* Willingness to travel for customer meetings, site visits, project discussions, and business development activities.

* Possession of a valid Class 3 driving licence will be an advantage.
