Looking forward to turning complex software into crystal-clear content?
Optimile is a leading software company specializing in digital solutions for the electric vehicle (EV) charging industry. Our innovative platforms empower Charging Point Operators (CPOs) and Mobility Service Providers (MSPs) to deliver seamless and efficient EV charging experiences.
As we continue to scale, we are looking for an experienced Technical Writer to strengthen our team for a one-year period, either on a payroll or freelance basis. You’ll help turn complex product and technical information into clear, structured and user-friendly content, while taking ownership of documentation within your scope.
Working closely with developers and other subject matter experts, you’ll ensure our documentation evolves alongside our products and truly supports the needs of our users and customers. You won’t be doing this alone: Koen, our Technical Writer, will be your closest colleague and sparring partner, working alongside you to further strengthen our documentation.
Your role
As a Technical Writer, you will:
- Create, structure and maintain clear technical and product documentation for our software and APIs.
- Work in a docs-as-code environment, using tools such as VS Code, GitLab and Zensical, and write documentation in Markdown.
- Collaborate closely with developers and other subject matter experts to gather, challenge and validate technical information.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear content tailored to different users and audiences.
- Approach documentation from a user and customer perspective, making sure content answers real questions and supports a smooth product experience.
- Keep documentation accurate and up to date as our products continue to evolve.
- Contribute to documentation standards, structure and knowledge-sharing practices across Optimile.
- Work comfortably within an Agile environment, aligning documentation activities with the development and release cycle.
- Take ownership of documentation needs and proactively identify where information is missing, outdated or unclear.
What you bring
- Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably within a software, SaaS or technology environment.
- Hands-on experience with docs as code, including working with Zensical, VS Code and GitLab or similar tools.
- Native-level English writing skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly, accurately and naturally.
- Experience working directly with developers and technical subject matter experts, knowing how to ask the right questions and turn their expertise into useful documentation.
- A strong user- and customer-centric mindset: you don’t just document how something works; you think about what users actually need to know.
- A structured mindset and strong attention to detail.
- A proactive and self-driven attitude. You take ownership, seek out information and move things forward.
- The ability to work effectively in an Agile environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- An affinity with electric mobility, EV charging or our broader industry is a plus.
Why join Optimile
- Join a fast-growing technology company operating in a future-focused and sustainable sector.
- Take real ownership of technical documentation and help further shape how we approach it at Optimile.
- Work closely with the people building our products and have a direct impact on the experience of our users and customers.
- Become part of a passionate, no-nonsense team that values collaboration and quality.
- Enjoy flexible working hours, a hybrid way of working and our great office in Ghent.
- Work in an open environment with plenty of room to contribute, learn and make things better.
