Supports and improves the design software, systems and digital tools used across Buchan's architectural practice — providing application support, driving business process automation, and leading AI adoption so employees get more from their everyday technology.
We’re seeking a Technology & Automation Specialist – Design Applications to specialise in and support the software, systems and digital tools used across our architectural practice.
This role combines application support, technology improvement, AI adoption and business process automation. You’ll help employees get the most from the technology they use every day while identifying opportunities to streamline workflows and improve productivity through automation and emerging technologies.
This is not a BIM Manager or architectural role. We are seeking a technology professional with strong application support, systems and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist support for design and business applications.
- Lead software installations, upgrades and deployments.
- Administer software licences, user access and application settings.
- Deliver user training and onboarding.
- Support & deploy design technology (eg Revit, Rhino, Enscape, Lumion) and business applications, including Microsoft 365 and SharePoint.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows through automation and AI.
- Develop and maintain automated workflows and other productivity solutions.
- Support Microsoft Copilot adoption and user training.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements.
- Work with software vendors and our external IT provider to resolve issues.
About You
You may currently be working as a:
- Technology Support Specialist
- Applications Support Analyst
- Business Systems Analyst
- Systems Support Officer
- Digital Technology Specialist
- IT Support Analyst
You’ll ideally have:
- A tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline
- 3+ years’ experience in technology, systems or application support.
- Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Experience supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
- Experience with software deployment and administration.
- Interest in AI, automation and process improvement.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Power Automate or similar platforms is highly regarded.
- Experience supporting architectural software is advantageous but not essential.
