Technology & Data Engineer
Summary
Early-career Technology & Data Engineer at Buchanan in London (hybrid, 4 days office/1 remote) building and maintaining the company's internal software, tools, integrations and automations using Python and SQL, with a key role developing Buchanan's internal AI platform for its sales teams.
Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day remote
We’re growing our Technology & Data team at Buchanan and are looking for a Technology & Data Engineer to join us.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their career who wants to develop their technical skills in a hands-on environment, work on real-world projects and have exposure to different areas of technology, data and AI.
You’ll join our existing Technology & Data team and help build, develop and maintain the internal software and tools used across Buchanan.
One of our biggest projects is the development of our own internal AI technology platform, designed to help our sales teams work smarter, make better use of our data and improve the way we operate. You’ll play an important role in developing the platform as it continues to grow.
What you’ll be doing
- Building and maintaining features across our internal technology platform
- Developing tools and solutions using Python and SQL
- Working with data from systems such as Bullhorn
- Helping build integrations, automations and internal applications
- Supporting projects from initial idea through to development, testing and implementation
- Exploring how AI can be used to solve real business problems
- Working closely with the wider Technology & Data team
- Collaborating with different teams across Buchanan and gaining exposure to senior leadership
What we’re looking for
We’re less focused on years of experience and more interested in finding someone with strong technical foundations, curiosity and a genuine desire to develop.
You might be a recent Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar graduate, or already have some commercial development experience and be looking for your next step.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- Experience using Python and SQL, whether commercially, academically or through personal projects
- A good understanding of software development fundamentals
- An interest in AI, data and emerging technology
- An analytical approach to solving problems
- A willingness to learn and get involved across different areas
- The confidence to ask questions, contribute ideas and take increasing ownership as you develop
You don’t need to have done everything before.
We’re looking for someone who wants to learn quickly, wear different hats and develop into a well-rounded engineer, while helping us build technology that has a genuine impact on how our business operates.
If you’re at the beginning of your career and looking for somewhere you can build, learn and take on more responsibility as you develop, we’d love to hear from you.
