About the Role

MSS Security is seeking professional, reliable and customer-focused Terminal Security Officers to join our team at Hobart International Airport.

This role provides a visible security presence throughout the airport terminal and surrounding precinct, helping maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for passengers, staff and visitors.

Duties include:

• Conduct security patrols of the terminal, forecourt, aprons, airport roads and car parks.

• Monitor and report security, safety and operational concerns.

• Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents.

• Apply effective verbal de-escalation and conflict resolution techniques when responding to challenging or escalating behaviours.

• Engage respectfully with passengers experiencing distress and provide first aid when required.

• Maintain accurate security logs, patrol records and incident reports.

• Provide a professional and customer-focused security presence throughout the airport.
  

Ideal candidates will have:

• Confidence applying de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviour without unnecessarily escalating a situation.

• Patience, empathy and the ability to communicate respectfully with vulnerable or distressed people.

• Strong communication and customer service skills.

• A professional presentation and reliable approach to work.

• Previous experience in security, aviation, transport, mental health support or another public-facing operational environment will be highly regarded.

• Flexibility to work across a variety of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
  

Requirements:

• Full Australian working rights.

• A current Tasmanian Security Agent Licence.

• A current First Aid and CPR Certificate.

• Ability to obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).

• Ability to undergo a medical assessment, including drug and alcohol testing.
