Test Engineer
Summary
Hardware test engineer at Aarke (consumer kitchen appliances, e.g. the Carbonator) in Stockholm: designs and executes test specifications and builds test rigs for new products, and leads end-to-end returns investigations from triage to root cause and CAPA. Includes regular travel to manufacturing partners, primarily in China.
About Aarke
Aarke is a Swedish design company redefining everyday kitchen appliances through premium materials, engineering, and timeless design. Founded in 2013, we are on a mission to re(de)fine the home appliances industry — combining Scandinavian design, exceptional quality, and top-tier materials in a category often overlooked by the design community.
Our flagship product, the Aarke Carbonator, has earned a devoted global following with customers in more than 30 countries. As we continue to scale internationally and expand into new product categories, we are looking for sharp, hands-on people to grow with us.
The Position
As Test Engineer at Aarke, you own test specification design and execution across our product categories. You are the person who can pick up an unfamiliar technical system — a new mechanism, electrical architecture, or material — and turn it into a comprehensive test campaign. Whether it is functional performance, durability, safety, or edge cases, you define what it means for a product to pass, and you make sure it gets there.
You also own the investigation of product returns. From intake and triage through root cause and corrective action, you drive the full process with rigour and clarity. In practice, you are the connective tissue between product development, quality, and compliance — a role where your findings directly shape the products we bring to market. You report to the Chief Product Development Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Create and launch test systems for new and existing products
Translate new technical systems into quantitative test specifications covering functional performance, durability, safety, and edge cases
Drive the continuous development of the test specification - either as a full test lead or as a facilitator to a development engineer
Design, build, and maintain test rigs and fixtures to support system verification
Document and communicate test results and analyses
Support the overseas team in development of IQC, IPQC and FQC tests at our suppliers
Contribute to design evaluation and concepting from a testing-led perspective
Lead returns investigations
Own intake and triage of customer and market returns across categories
Lead root cause analysis investigations end to end: reproduce failures, conduct Failure Analysis (FA), isolate root cause, and document findings in a structured format
Feed conclusions into CAPA processes, rework decisions, and compliance documentation
Maintain a traceable and complete record of returns and investigation outcomes
Development department contribution
Develop Aarke's testing capabilities and lab environment over time
Continuously review and update Aarke’s work environment with safety and reliability in mind
Set up and/or improve on processes and documentation to develop and maintain high quality, premium products.
Who Are You?
You are a methodical, hands-on investigator who moves fast but thinks rigorously. Ambiguity does not slow you down — you can pick up an unfamiliar product and design a test approach from scratch, then execute it with confidence. You are equally at home building test rigs in the workshop and writing a structured investigation report. You communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, and you take ownership from start to finish. You care about getting to the real answer, not just a plausible one.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's or Master's in a relevant engineering field (mechanical, electrical, industrial, or similar)
2–5 years' experience in product testing, quality engineering, or new product development of consumer appliances
Demonstrated ability to design a test approach for an unfamiliar technical system
Experience conducting Failure Analysis (FA) on returned or failed units, from reproduction through root cause
Proficiency in mechanical workshop prototyping and test rig/jig construction
Understanding of mechanical design for different materials and manufacturing processes
Comfortable leading structured investigations and driving to a defensible root cause
Good knowledge of at least one CAD system is an advantage
Fluent in English, written and spoken
Cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural teamwork skills
Why Aarke?
At Aarke, you work directly on products that go through the full development journey — you see them from early concept through launch and into the market, including what comes back and why. Our team is small and hands-on, which means your work has real, visible impact and you are never far from a decision.
You will be part of a collaborative, cross-functional environment in central Stockholm (Vasastan), with close ties to our manufacturing partners and suppliers. The role includes regular travel to our production partners, primarily in China — giving you direct access to the factory floor and the chance to build deep product knowledge through the full supply chain.
