Title Officer - US Based Remote
Summary
Review real-estate documents and public records to determine property title status and issue title insurance policies for residential and commercial transactions.
The National Operations team at Compass Integrated Services is currently seeking a Title Officer to join our Title Production team. This is a remote position in the Denver, Colorado metropolitan area. As Title Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of title work for real estate transactions, being a go-to resource for title issues and requests requiring upper-level review and decision making.
Our Title Group is a full-service title, settlement, underwriting and vendor management services company serving consumers, real estate companies, affinity groups, corporations, and financial institutions in support of residential and commercial real estate transactions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct through search and examine public records to assess property’s status of title, while adhering to regulatory title standards and underwriter policies and procedures.
- Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, trust agreements etc.
- Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys.
- Make insurability decisions and translate title insurance guidelines, address and respond to objection letters, indemnity requests, etc.
- Work closely with escrow officers, title team members, underwriters and other business teams.
- Maintain client relationships.
- Working closely with the Title Production Manager in oversight of department needs and underwriting and business decision making.
- Issue pro-forma policies, assist in policy production and address post-closing title needs.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 10 years in the title insurance business.
- Colorado Title Insurance License required.
- Strong understanding of title examination process and procedures, related documentation, and their effect upon title.
- Fully versed in Commercial, Residential and Acreage (metes and bounds) examinations, experience in Colorado.
- Proficient in the use of region-specific title plant software, Deed Plotter software, have experience researching and utilizing County Government websites.
- Strong research/ investigation skills and a strong understanding of legal terms; underwriter standards, guidelines and rate filings; and statutes and regulations affecting title insurance and real property.
- Attention to detail combined with analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal/written skills and attention to detail, excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines, have a high level of organization, ability to consistently meet deadlines, work with constantly changing priorities demonstrate strong follow through, and to follow procedures/processes.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use various software applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams and Title Production software.
