Job Title: Utility Worker - Catering Events

Department: Operations

Reports To: Event Manager and Events Director

Position Summary: The Utility Worker for Catering Events is a key support role responsible for assisting with the setup, maintenance, and cleanup of catering events. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can handle various tasks, ensuring that events run smoothly and guests have a positive experience. The Utility Worker is also responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in all areas related to the event.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Event Setup and Breakdown:
    • Assist in the setup and teardown of tables, chairs, linens, and other event-related equipment.
    • Ensure all areas are properly arranged according to event specifications.
    • Help with the setup of food and beverage stations, including buffet lines, bars, and serving areas.
  2. Food and Beverage Assistance:
    • Support catering staff in delivering food and beverages to serving areas.
    • Replenish food and beverage stations as needed throughout the event.
    • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness of all serving areas during the event.
  3. Cleaning and Maintenance:
    • Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including the kitchen, prep areas, and event spaces.
    • Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and compostable materials during and after events.
    • Wash dishes, glassware, and utensils as needed.
    • Assist in maintaining equipment, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
  4. Customer Service:
    • Provide friendly and professional service to guests, addressing any questions or concerns.
    • Assist with special requests from guests, ensuring their needs are met promptly.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Follow all health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation standards.
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Report any unsafe conditions or incidents to the supervisor immediately.
  6. Other Duties:
    • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Catering Manager or Event Supervisor.
    • Collaborate with the catering team to ensure the success of the event.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a catering, hospitality, or similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and good communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and lift heavy objects for extended periods. Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • Availability: Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules.

Work Environment: The Utility Worker will work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor settings, depending on the event location. The role may involve exposure to hot and cold temperatures, as well as the need to work in noisy or crowded areas.
