Video Editor

Open 43d

About Open.cx

Open.cx is a Y Combinator-backed AI customer support platform trusted by enterprises such as Mollie, TicketSwap, and MoneyGram. We're a small, high-output team building AI that actually works — and we move fast. LinkedIn is a core growth channel for us, and our content lands in front of CEOs, founders, and C-level operators every day. We need a video editor who can match our energy and make that content impossible to scroll past.

The role

We're not hiring someone to make "polished corporate videos." We're hiring a video editor — someone who lives and breathes kinetic, short-form storytelling, with the production polish of a top-tier tech reviewer. Your job: make our LinkedIn videos so compelling that stopping the scroll feels involuntary to a busy CEO halfway through their morning.

You'll own the full editing pipeline, from raw talking-head footage to a punchy, high-retention LinkedIn video ready to post.

What you'll do

Retention-first storytelling:

  • Nail the first 3 seconds of every video like your job depends on it (because it does)
  • Edit talking-head LinkedIn videos in a fast, word-by-word caption style synced to every syllable
  • Build zoom punches, text pops, glitch transitions, and motion blur sequences that feel native to short-form
  • Land frame-perfect cuts timed to speech rhythm, breath pauses, and musical beats — nothing cuts by accident

Cinematic polish:

  • Execute cinematic color grading with custom LUTs, matched skin tones, and a consistent look across every clip
  • Deliver pristine audio: noise reduction, EQ, de-essing, compression, and music ducking that lets speech breathe
  • Mix sound design directly into the audio bed — wooshes, pops, clicks, and risers timed to the frame
  • Stabilize, reframe, and clean every shot — no shaky footage, no off-axis horizons, no sloppy keyframes

Brand and visual system:

  • Design floating lower thirds, name tags, and call-to-action end cards that feel brand-native, not template-y
  • Cut subjects from backgrounds and create the "floating" professional look
  • Produce and integrate B-roll that serves the narrative — stock, screen recordings, product shots, match cuts
  • Maintain a tight 3-color palette and matching type system across every video with pixel-perfect consistency

Ownership and throughput:

  • Build reusable motion graphic templates so output scales without sacrificing polish
  • Review every frame like it's going on a billboard: obsess over details most viewers won't consciously notice but will feel
  • Deliver 2 to 4 polished videos per week, consistently and on deadline, without quality drift

How to apply

We use a "Show, Don't Tell" process. No resume gets hired on its own.

Step 1 — Application: Submit your portfolio plus a 90-second video of yourself explaining why you're the right editor for an AI startup targeting enterprise decision-makers. Candidates who skip the video will not be reviewed.

Step 2 — Paid sample project: Top 3 to 5 candidates receive a short raw clip and get paid to edit it in our style. This is the real interview.

Step 3 — Culture chat: A 30-minute call with the team. We want to know if you take ownership, not just instructions.

Step 4 — Paid trial: We start with a 1-month paid trial. If it clicks for both sides, we make it official.

Requirements

You are the right person if:

  • Your portfolio is fast-paced and caption-driven — not slow corporate reels
  • You obsess over the first 3 seconds of every video
  • You know sound design is 50% of the edit
  • You're proactive — you don't wait to be told what looks good

Tools we expect you to know:

  • Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve
  • After Effects or CapCut (motion graphics)
  • Photoshop or Remove.bg (background cutouts)
  • Frame.io or similar (review and delivery)
