VP Business Development Ops & Technology
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Business Development Operations & Technology serves as a strategic partner to the Chief Business Development Officer and the Vice President of Business Development, helping transform prospect interest into long-term customer partnerships. While the Vice President of Business Development is primarily focused on business acquisition, relationship development, and revenue generation, this role serves as the operational and technology subject matter expert during the sales process.
The VP, Business Development Operations & Technology leads customer-facing discussions regarding operational excellence, implementation capabilities, technology platforms, reporting and analytics, process design, service delivery methodologies, and emerging technologies that drive customer value. This individual plays a critical role in demonstrating the organization's ability to execute, innovate, scale, and continuously improve customer outcomes.
The ideal candidate combines deep operational expertise, technology acumen, consultative selling capabilities, and executive presence to instill confidence in prospective clients and support successful business development efforts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Development Partnership
- Serve as the operational and technology counterpart to the Vice President of Business Development throughout the sales cycle.
- Participate in customer presentations, discovery sessions, site visits, RFP processes, and executive-level prospect meetings.
- Lead discussions related to operational workflows, implementation strategies, service delivery models, technology infrastructure, analytics capabilities, reporting solutions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Translate customer challenges into customized operational and technology solutions.
- Collaborate with business development leadership to develop compelling value propositions and differentiated customer solutions.
- Support proposal development, solution design, pricing assumptions, and implementation planning.
Customer-Facing Technology & Innovation Leadership
- Present the company's technology capabilities, digital solutions, dashboards, portals, analytics platforms, automation tools, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrate how technology solutions improve customer visibility, efficiency, productivity, and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data, business intelligence, automation, artificial intelligence, and process optimization to meet customer objectives.
- Act as the executive spokesperson for operational technology initiatives and future-state innovations.
- Stay current on industry trends, technology advancements, and competitive solutions.
Operations & Process Excellence
- Articulate operational processes, service delivery methodology, quality assurance programs, compliance standards, and performance management systems.
- Design and communicate implementation plans for new customer onboarding and operational transitions.
- Partner with Operations leadership to ensure proposed solutions are executable, scalable, and aligned with organizational capabilities.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives utilizing Lean, Six Sigma, process engineering, or similar methodologies.
Analytics & Business Intelligence
- Lead customer discussions regarding KPI development, performance measurement, dashboard reporting, and advanced analytics.
- Demonstrate the company's capabilities in reporting, business intelligence, predictive analytics, and operational insights.
- Partner with internal teams to develop customer-facing performance metrics and customized reporting solutions.
- Utilize data-driven storytelling to showcase value and competitive differentiation.
Implementation & Solution Design
- Oversee solution architecture and implementation planning for new client opportunities.
- Collaborate with Operations, IT, Finance, Customer Success, and Business Development teams to ensure seamless customer transitions.
- Assess operational requirements, technology integrations, reporting needs, and resource allocations.
- Guide customers through implementation timelines, milestones, and success metrics.
Executive Leadership
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership regarding growth initiatives, customer requirements, operational readiness, and technology investments.
- Build strong relationships with executive stakeholders across customer organizations.
- Mentor cross-functional teams in solution design, customer engagement, operational excellence, and technology adoption.
- Contribute to strategic planning, innovation initiatives, and organizational growth objectives.
