JOB TITLE: Workday Integration Support Lead

JOB LOCATION: Melbourne preferred; Sydney and Adelaide candidates also considered (Hybrid)

JOB DURATION: 5-months contract (potential extension)

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Workday Integration Support Lead to own the operational stability, support, governance, and continuous improvement of integrations between Workday and enterprise platforms. The role will lead L2/L3 integration support, coordinate incident resolution, manage monitoring and release activities, and provide technical leadership across inbound and outbound interfaces. The successful candidate will work closely with Workday functional teams, security, reporting, infrastructure, middleware, third-party vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure integrations remain reliable, secure, supportable, and aligned with business priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Integration Support Leadership

  • Lead day-to-day L2/L3 production support for Workday integrations, interfaces, and scheduled data transfers.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for high-priority incidents, recurring failures, and complex integration defects.
  • Triage incidents, determine business impact, coordinate resolver teams, and drive issues through to root-cause resolution.
  • Prioritise break-fix, service requests, minor enhancements, regulatory changes, and technical debt within the support backlog.
  • Coordinate with Workday functional leads to assess business-process, security, reporting, and configuration dependencies.
  • Provide clear stakeholder updates during incidents and escalate risks, constraints, and vendor dependencies when required.

Monitoring and Operational Control

  • Own integration monitoring, alerting, daily health checks, failure management, restart procedures, and operational dashboards.
  • Monitor scheduled and event-driven integrations, including inbound, outbound, file-based, API-based, and middleware-managed interfaces.
  • Ensure failures are identified promptly, data is reprocessed safely, and downstream impacts are assessed before closure.
  • Define support thresholds, alert routing, on-call or after-hours escalation requirements, and operational hand-offs.
  • Maintain integration inventories, schedules, dependencies, owners, service criticality, and support contacts.
  • Track availability, incident trends, repeat failures, ageing defects, and service performance for governance reporting.

Technical Troubleshooting and Development

  • Troubleshoot Workday integrations using integration event details, process monitor, audit information, reports, logs, and error outputs.
  • Support and enhance integrations built with Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder (EIB), Core Connectors, Cloud Connect, Report-as-a-Service (RaaS), Workday Web Services, REST/SOAP APIs, and custom reports.
  • Analyse and resolve issues involving XSLT, XML, JSON, CSV, web services, authentication, certificates, encryption, file transfer, data transformation, and sequencing.
  • Coordinate troubleshooting across middleware and external platforms, including SFTP endpoints, banking, payroll, procurement, asset-management, billing, HR, and identity systems.
  • Build or modify integration components where appropriate, following design, security, testing, and change-control standards.
  • Perform impact analysis before changes to Workday business processes, security, calculated fields, reports, endpoints, or external-system specifications.

Release, Change and Environment Management

  • Lead technical assessment and regression planning for Workday feature releases and integration-impacting changes.
  • Manage integration changes through development, test, deployment, and post-production validation in line with change-management controls.
  • Coordinate tenant refresh impacts, endpoint updates, credentials, certificates, schedules, and post-refresh validation.
  • Prepare deployment plans, backout plans, verification steps, implementation evidence, and change records.
  • Support cutover, go-live, hypercare, and transition-to-support activities for new projects and interfaces.
  • Ensure separation of duties and appropriate approvals are maintained across build, migration, and production support.

Security, Compliance and Risk

  • Partner with Workday Security teams to maintain integration system users, integration security groups, domain permissions, authentication methods, and least-privilege access.
  • Monitor certificate, key, password, token, and endpoint expiry risks and coordinate timely renewals.
  • Ensure sensitive data is appropriately protected in transit and at rest, including secure file transfer, encryption, masking, and controlled logging.
  • Support audit requests by providing configuration, access, change, test, and operational evidence.
  • Maintain integration risks, known errors, control gaps, remediation actions, and continuity procedures.

Governance, Documentation and Continuous Improvement

  • Chair or contribute to integration support reviews, incident reviews, change forums, release planning, and service-governance meetings.
  • Own or maintain integration design documents, support guides, runbooks, monitoring procedures, data mappings, interface catalogues, and knowledge articles.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis for significant or recurring incidents and ensure preventative actions are implemented.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual intervention, improve observability, standardise patterns, and retire fragile interfaces.
  • Provide coaching, work allocation, technical review, and knowledge transfer for integration support consultants and partner resources.
  • Collaborate with implementation partners and vendors while retaining clear internal ownership of service outcomes.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Workday integration experience, including significant experience in production support or managed-service environments.
  • Hands-on expertise with Workday Studio, EIB, Core Connectors, RaaS, custom reports, calculated fields, Workday Web Services, and REST/SOAP APIs.
  • Strong troubleshooting capability across XML, XSLT, JSON, web services, SFTP, PGP encryption, certificates, authentication, and data transformation.
  • Experience leading incident, problem, change, and release activities for business-critical integrations.
  • Working knowledge of Workday security concepts relevant to integrations, including integration system users, security groups, domains, and least-privilege access.
  • Experience with integration monitoring, operational dashboards, service reporting, root-cause analysis, and support documentation.
  • Ability to coordinate technical and functional teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders during high-impact incidents.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, prioritisation, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Availability to support Australian business hours and planned after-hours releases or critical incidents when required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Workday integration certification or relevant Workday Pro accreditation.
  • Experience with middleware or integration platforms such as MuleSoft, Boomi, Azure Integration Services, or similar enterprise tools.
  • Experience supporting integrations across Workday Financials, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Payroll, HCM, Banking, and enterprise asset-management platforms.
  • Knowledge of ITIL-based incident, problem, change, request, and service-level management practices.
  • Experience in utilities, regulated industries, multi-company environments, or complex enterprise application landscapes.
  • Experience with ticketing and engineering tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, or Azure DevOps.
  • Understanding of privacy, records management, audit, and cyber-security control requirements.

Success Measures

  • Stable and reliable operation of critical Workday integrations.
  • Timely incident resolution and effective stakeholder communication.
  • Reduction in repeat failures through root-cause elimination and preventative improvements.
  • Controlled and auditable releases with successful post-deployment validation.
  • Accurate support documentation, integration inventory, and operational ownership.
  • Effective knowledge transfer and improved capability across the support team.

Why Join

  • Work on a large-scale Workday ecosystem spanning Finance, Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, HR, and external enterprise platforms.
  • Lead a critical support capability with direct influence over service stability, integration governance, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders across complex cloud and third-party environments.
  • Flexible contract opportunity based in Sydney or Melbourne.
