Vulnerable children in the UK need your help
Wherever you work in the Action for Children family, you'll be helping to change the lives of the most vulnerable children in the UK.
Last year, we helped more than 670,000 children and families across the UK. From direct work in communities to national campaigning, we are focused on making sure every child has a safe and happy childhood, and the foundations they need to thrive.
Why Action for Children?
Working here is more than a job. Everyone in the Action for Children family is passionate about protecting and supporting children. It's the sense of purpose that drives us every single day. Because we know that, when we work together, we can make a huge difference to bring lasting improvements to vulnerable children's lives.
A bit about the role
As a Young Person’s Worker, you’ll use your skills to empower young individuals, build their resilience, and ensure their well-being. By emphasising person-centered care and strong social values, you'll be a positive influence and mentor to our young people.
In return, we offer a supportive environment for your professional development. We provide access to industry-specific qualifications, regular supervision, team gatherings, and a strong sense of community within our organisation, all designed to enhance your career progression.
Renfrewshire Outreach Support works in partnership with Renfrewshire Council to provide support to children, young people who have additional needs and their families within the context of community outreach support.
We support young people to access resources in the community such as local parks, cinema, bowling, shopping etc. Support can be on an individual basis, small groups and larger groups. The aim of the group is to provide stimulating activities for our young people in a group setting.
You’ll work as part of a well supported and trained team who work hard to achieve positive outcomes for our young people through group work and befriending.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
Key responsibilities of the Young Person’s Worker role include;
- Providing a safe environment for them to enjoy time with their friends.
- Giving families the break, they need to continue supporting their children.
- Assisting the children in all aspects of their care and supporting their health and wellbeing.
Provide children with meaningful and fun activities within their local and wider community.
Let's talk about you
- Ideally, a qualification in a social care discipline but we are very open to relevant experience, rather than a qualification.
- Experience of working with disabled young people and working within community environments.
- The ability to use MS Office to record case notes.
- Excellent communication skills enabling you to engage with our young people and families through a variety of methods.
- An understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to act upon any concerns.
- A positive approach, providing a fun environment for all the children in our care.
