1 Lead Microservices and AI Technical Architect
Summary
A lead technical architect contract with an ACT Government department in Canberra, providing technical leadership across cloud-native, microservices, event-driven and AI-enabled platforms. The architect drives modern engineering practices (DevSecOps, CI/CD, observability) and AI adoption across the software delivery lifecycle, with hybrid/WFH flexibility.

12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options.
Hybrid working arrangement with remote/WFH flexibility.
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week
Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline.
Our client is an ACT Government department seeking a Lead Microservices & AI Technical Architect to join their team in Canberra, ACT.
This role will provide technical leadership across cloud-native, microservices, event-driven and AI-enabled platforms. The successful candidate will influence architecture and engineering decisions, drive technology modernisation, establish modern engineering practices and support the adoption of AI across the software delivery lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership and architectural direction for cloud-native, microservices, event-driven and AI-enabled platforms.
- Lead the adoption of modern engineering practices including DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and platform engineering.
- Drive technology modernisation, containerisation, enterprise integration and reusable architecture patterns.
- Lead multidisciplinary technical teams and support engineering capability uplift through knowledge transfer and governance.
- Engage with senior stakeholders and delivery partners to translate complex business requirements into practical technology outcomes.
- Extensive experience designing and governing cloud-native, microservices and event-driven architectures within complex enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in AI engineering and AI-enabled solution delivery, including enterprise AI capabilities, semantic search and responsible AI practices.
- Strong software and platform engineering capability, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated testing, observability and security by design.
- Proven experience leading technology modernisation and transformation initiatives and influencing enterprise architecture decisions.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication and leadership skills, including experience leading multidisciplinary teams and engaging senior executives.
