Account Manager

Overview

We are designing the grid of the future!

The Account Manager is responsible for the strategic growth, relationship development, and commercial performance of a portfolio of assigned EPE clients. The Account Manager serves as the primary Business Development owner for assigned accounts and is accountable for expanding EPE’s footprint, creating qualified opportunities, growing revenue, and strengthening relationships throughout the client organization.

This is an active business development role, not solely a relationship-management position. Account Managers are expected to proactively uncover opportunities, establish new relationships throughout assigned accounts, cross-sell EPE capabilities, and engage the appropriate technical and executive resources to advance opportunities.

The Account Manager develops a comprehensive understanding of each client’s organization, strategic priorities, capital investments, regulatory drivers, procurement environment, current EPE engagements, and future needs. Using this intelligence, they develop and execute account strategies designed to increase EPE’s relationship penetration, service penetration, pipeline, and revenue.

Account Managers work closely with EPE’s Technical Business Development Strategists, Line of Business (LOB) leaders, technical subject matter experts, executive leadership, and operational teams. The Account Manager brings deep knowledge of the client, while Technical BD Strategists and LOB leaders bring deep knowledge of the technical market and solutions. Together, they translate client needs and market intelligence into actionable business opportunities.

Depending on client size, complexity, and strategic importance, an Account Manager may be responsible for several assigned accounts. Regular client engagement and an active presence within assigned accounts are essential to success.

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Develop and maintain strategic account plans with annual growth targets and quarterly action plans aligned with revenue, pipeline, opportunity creation, and relationship objectives.
  • Understand each client’s organizational structure, strategic priorities, capital programs, regulatory environment, procurement strategy, and operational challenges to guide account growth.
  • Track account performance, including active projects, revenue, pipeline, key relationships, services delivered, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities.
  • Conduct account whitespace analyses to identify expansion opportunities across client departments, operating companies, geographic locations, and Lines of Business (LOBs), coordinating a unified EPE account strategy.
  • Build strategic relationships across client organizations, including executives, technical teams, operations, procurement, sourcing, and contract management, reducing reliance on individual contacts.
  • Map key stakeholders, decision-makers, influencers, and client advocates; address relationship gaps and cultivate champions who support introductions and account growth.
  • Drive organic account growth by proactively identifying client needs, developing qualified opportunities, and expanding EPE’s services beyond existing engagements and incoming RFPs.
  • Partner with Technical Business Development Strategists, LOB leaders, and subject matter experts to align EPE capabilities with client needs and pursue cross-selling and follow-on opportunities.
  • Maintain a qualified pipeline of near- and long-term opportunities with defined stakeholders, internal ownership, next steps, advancement strategies, and timelines.
  • Monitor client developments, regulatory filings, capital plans, procurement activity, leadership changes, and competitor activity to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Manage opportunities from identification through award, coordinating client engagement, technical discovery, proposal development, pursuit strategy, and follow-up with the responsible LOB.
  • Support proposals, RFP responses, and bid/no-bid decisions by providing client intelligence, competitive insights, procurement considerations, win themes, and differentiated positioning.
  • Plan and lead Customer Business Reviews (CBRs), executive meetings, and strategic client engagements to assess performance, understand emerging needs, identify opportunities, and establish follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate account commercial requirements, including Master Services Agreements (MSAs), rate agreements, vendor registrations, contract renewals, invoicing concerns, and accounts receivable issues.
  • Serve as the central Business Development coordinator for assigned accounts, aligning Technical BD, LOBs, Finance, Operations, and executive leadership while maintaining accurate Salesforce records, forecasts, performance reporting, and follow-through.
