Job Overview

We are looking for a strong Android Developer who can independently design, develop, debug, and maintain Android applications. The ideal candidate should have solid hands-on experience with Android Java/Kotlin, a strong understanding of Android OS and device-level behavior, and the ability to work confidently on security-sensitive features. This role requires someone who can debug complex Android issues, investigate device-specific problems, take ownership of features, and drive issues to resolution independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Android applications using Kotlin and Java.
  • Understand and work with Android framework components, lifecycle, background processing, permissions, services, intents, and system-level APIs.
  • Investigate and resolve complex device-specific and OS-version-specific issues.
  • Debug application crashes, ANRs, unexpected behavior, performance issues, and integration problems.
  • Work on Android device security and application security requirements.
  • Implement and troubleshoot security-sensitive features such as device validation, emulator/root detection, SIM/device verification, and other security controls.
  • Analyze Android logs, stack traces, system behavior, and application behavior to identify root causes.
  • Take end-to-end ownership of assigned features and issues from investigation through production resolution.
  • Collaborate with backend, QA, product, and engineering teams.
  • Evaluate new Android/OS changes and assess application impact.
  • Write clean, maintainable, scalable, production-ready code.
  • Participate in code reviews and improve development practices.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Android development using Kotlin and Java.
  • Strong understanding of Android SDK and Android Framework.
  • Good understanding of Android lifecycle and components.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience investigating device-specific and Android-version-specific issues.
  • Good understanding of Android device and application security.
  • Ability to analyze Logcat, stack traces, crashes, ANRs, and system-level logs.
  • Understanding of permissions, background execution, services, intents, and system restrictions.
  • Understanding of asynchronous programming.
  • Ability to independently investigate and identify root causes.
  • Strong ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate technical challenges, risks, and solutions.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Jetpack Compose
  • Android Architecture Components / Jetpack libraries
  • MVVM / Clean Architecture
  • Android networking and REST APIs
  • Gradle and Android build systems
  • Android application security and reverse engineering concepts
  • Rooted devices, emulators, device integrity checks, SIM/device validation
  • Troubleshooting across multiple Android versions and device manufacturers

What We Look For

  • Owns the problem, not just the task.
  • Investigates issues independently before asking for help.
  • Comfortable dealing with unknown or difficult Android behavior.
  • Can distinguish coding issues, OS limitations, device issues, and security constraints.
  • Confident in debugging and explaining root causes.
  • Makes sound technical decisions and communicates trade-offs.
  • Willing to research, experiment, and perform R&D.
  • Takes responsibility for delivering features through production.

Experience

Preferred: 1 to 5 years of hands-on Android development experience. Candidates with strong practical development and debugging skills may be considered regardless of exact years of experience.
