Backend Software Engineer

Summary

Backend engineer building EUDR-compliant geospatial services in Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS to support sustainable coffee farming.

Responsibilities

  • Implement improvements to EUDR backend services and refine geospatial workflows
  • Strengthen data checks and error handling
  • Perform investigative problem-solving to trace data and system behavior
  • Translate evolving regulatory requirements into practical engineering work
  • Maintain Terraform-based changes in AWS for relevant services
  • Improve observability and contribute to CI/CD pipelines

Requirements

  • Minimum of seven years of professional backend software engineering experience
  • Extensive experience with Python and complex data processing
  • Advanced experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and performance tuning
  • Practical experience with Linux, Bash, Docker, and AWS (EC2, RDS, CloudFront)
  • Familiarity with Django or Flask
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent training
  • Ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical colleagues

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with geospatial workflows or PostGIS
  • Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code
