Backend Software Engineer
Summary
Backend engineer building EUDR-compliant geospatial services in Python, PostgreSQL, and AWS to support sustainable coffee farming.
Responsibilities
- Implement improvements to EUDR backend services and refine geospatial workflows
- Strengthen data checks and error handling
- Perform investigative problem-solving to trace data and system behavior
- Translate evolving regulatory requirements into practical engineering work
- Maintain Terraform-based changes in AWS for relevant services
- Improve observability and contribute to CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
- Minimum of seven years of professional backend software engineering experience
- Extensive experience with Python and complex data processing
- Advanced experience with PostgreSQL, including query optimization and performance tuning
- Practical experience with Linux, Bash, Docker, and AWS (EC2, RDS, CloudFront)
- Familiarity with Django or Flask
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent training
- Ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical colleagues
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with geospatial workflows or PostGIS
- Experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code
