This position may be located in any Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Headquarters division office within the Office of Field Operations (FO), Division Office in Huntsville, AL. Serves on the immediate staff of the division or branch and functions as a budget analyst responsible for providing budget and program analysis, assistance, advice, and recommendations to the respective division or branch chief on a wide variety of complex financial resource and program issues.
The major duties of the Budget Analyst position include, but are not limited to, the following: The incumbent serves on the immediate staff of the division as a Budget Analyst, providing budget and program analysis, assistance, advice, and recommendations on a wide range of complex financial resource and program management issues. The incumbent analyzes budget execution, funding requirements, and financial data to identify trends, resolve issues, and support sound fiscal decision-making. The incumbent develops reports, evaluates the impact of budgetary actions, and provides recommendations to management to ensure the effective and efficient use of organizational resources. The incumbent monitors budget activities, interprets financial policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and agency guidance.
The requirements listed below must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Must be U.S. Citizen or National Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file. May be required to serve a one-year probationary period. You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate. Pass a drug test. Suitable for Federal employment determined by background investigation. You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement. MOBILITY PLAN: New employees hired pursuant to this vacancy announcement must sign a mobility agreement. To accomplish these objectives, the mobility plan will facilitate the movement of employees through special short-term assignments or permanent reassignments throughout the Bureau.
