Business Architect

Salary: $160 – $200 per hour

Business architecture is still uncommon in New Zealand. Most organisations that say they want it want a process map, and the ones that want the real thing struggle to find people who can do it, because there aren't many of you. That is starting to change, and most of the demand we are seeing is coming from government.

The live one first. Collada is working with a government organisation in Wellington on their business architecture. They are a couple of years into a multi-year strategy, a lot has been delivered, and the board is now asking the fair question of what it all adds up to and what the organisation looks like at the end of it. Nobody has drawn that yet. The work is a blueprinting exercise, deliberately not a programme: get the future state out of people's heads and onto a page the executive can recognise, then connect it to the process and the data and information work already under way, which is where they see the value. A newly formed business design practice picks it up from there. We are looking for an associate to lead that piece. Full time to start, running through to June next year, then reviewed, and the shape of it will develop with the client as it goes rather than being fixed up front. You can be based anywhere in New Zealand, with travel to Wellington as the work requires.

This is not a technical architecture role and it is not a process-mapping role. If you have not put a future state in front of an executive team and had it land, we are unlikely to be able to engage with you on this one, no matter how strong the rest of your background is.

Role: Business Architect (Collada associate)

Location: NZ wide, Auckland or Wellington preferred, travel to Wellington as required

Start: As soon as practical

Length: Through to June 2027, then reviewed

Rate: $160ph - $200ph, depending on the engagement and the client

Beyond this role, we have more business architecture work coming through over the next few months, across government and the corporate sector, some of it full time and some of it advisory. If you do this work properly and you are open minded about what comes next, even if it is not right now, we would like to hear from you. We will send more detail on the live role to the people it suits, and keep the rest of you in mind as the other work firms up.

Collada is a boutique architecture partner. We exist to support leaders in uplifting and delivering architecture capability, typically in highly transformational contexts. Our architects are engaged as associates, working on the client's site as part of the associate network, and we work with people we know, have worked alongside, or who come through people we trust.
