Business Development Manager
What you’ll be doing
Business Development & Prospecting
- Identify and secure new opportunities across key industrial categories including:
- Construction & Earthmoving
- Transport & Trucks
- Agriculture & Farming
- Manufacturing & Industrial Equipment
- Material Handling
- Metalworking & Woodworking Machinery
- Conduct outbound prospecting and relationship development activities.
- Attend customer meetings, site visits and industry events as required.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of opportunities.
- Develop relationships with dealers, contractors, fleet owners and industrial businesses.
Vendor Relationship Management
- Manage vendor relationships throughout the sales lifecycle.
- Condition vendors on realistic market pricing and market expectations.
- Assist customers with listing strategy, equipment presentation and marketing positioning.
- Maintain regular communication with customers regarding enquiry activity, pricing feedback and sales progress.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure listings are uploaded accurately and professionally.
Sales & Negotiation
- Manage inbound buyer enquiries and sales opportunities.
- Negotiate offers and assist in facilitating successful transactions.
- Drive urgency and movement on aged listings.
- Work closely with the Deals Desk and Account Management teams to maximise lead conversion.
- Ensure all buyer and vendor communication is handled professionally and within agreed service levels.
CRM, Reporting & Administration
- Maintain accurate CRM records and pipeline reporting.
- Achieve agreed activity KPIs including calls, meetings and listing targets.
- Provide weekly forecasting updates and pipeline commentary.
- Ensure all customer interactions and sales activities are documented appropriately.
- Participate in weekly sales meetings and performance reviews.
What we're looking for
- Minimum 5+ years experience in sales, business development or account management.
- Strong negotiation and closing capability.
- Proven ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong commercial acumen and solution-based selling skills.
- Highly organised with strong time management capability.
- CRM experience and pipeline management skills.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.
- 3+ years experience in machinery, transport, construction, industrial or agricultural industries.
- Existing industry network and customer relationships.
- Experience working within marketplace, transactional or lead-driven sales environments.
- Understanding of equipment valuations and machinery market pricing.
- Experience managing high-value B2B sales opportunities.
