Contract OT & IoT IT Engineer (Manufacturing Systems Support)
Summary
Contract onsite engineer in Penang providing Level 2/2.5 support for a client's manufacturing OT/IoT systems: industrial networks (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, VLANs, segmentation), Tulip apps, Litmus edge gateways, Grafana dashboards, and shop-floor devices like tablets, scanners and printers. Includes evening-shift troubleshooting, escalation to L3/vendor teams and documentation.
This role is to support one of our clients in a manufacturing environment. The incumbent will provide dedicated onsite Level 2 / Level 2.5 technical support for manufacturing IT and OT/IoT systems, including software, hardware, networks, gateways, dashboards and eDHR-related infrastructure.
The successful talent will support production stability, system go-live and stabilization, rapid troubleshooting and issue resolution, while coordinating with local manufacturing teams, regional and global IT/solution teams and third-party vendors.
Roles & Responsibilities
OT/IoT Infrastructure & Network Support
Support implementation and stabilization of OT/IoT infrastructure, including industrial Ethernet/Wi-Fi, IP addressing, re-IP activities, network segmentation and connectivity between machines, sensors, gateways and shop-floor systems.
Configure and troubleshoot industrial network connectivity and support readiness for IoT data flow, eDHR execution, and OEE monitoring.
Coordinate with EIT, OT, Security, Infrastructure, application, solution and vendor teams on OT security, DMZ, access, connectivity, and escalation requirements.
OT/IoT Systems & Device Support
Deploy, configure, maintain and troubleshoot OT/IoT software and hardware, including Tulip applications/stations/connectors/interfaces, Litmus edge software and gateways, and Grafana dashboards.
Support manufacturing devices and peripherals, including tablets, barcode scanners, industrial printers, displays, industrial PCs, engineering workstations, gateways and sensors.
Perform onsite installation, configuration, testing, replacement, preventive checks and break-fix support.
Monitor system and device availability and validate end-to-end data flow from machines and sensors through gateways/platforms to dashboard displays.
Incident Troubleshooting & Escalation
Provide initial diagnosis, issue isolation and service restoration for Tulip, Litmus, Grafana, OT network, hardware, devices, infrastructure, access, integration and data-visibility issues.
Identify whether incidents relate to software, hardware, network, data source, integration, access, or infrastructure and route them to the appropriate support owner.
Collect relevant troubleshooting information such as timestamps, screenshots, logs, error messages, device status, network checks, recent changes and business impact.
Escalate application defects, integration failures, platform issues or advanced network problems to the appropriate Level 3 application, solution, infrastructure or vendor teams, supported by clear technical findings.
Track incidents through resolution and validate service recovery with manufacturing users.
Documentation & Knowledge Management
Maintain known-error, configuration, troubleshooting and support handover documentation.
Onsite & Evening Shift Support
Provide onsite support during the assigned evening shift, including production ramp-up, testing, go-live stabilization, and prompt response to production-impacting incidents.
Act as a time-zone bridge between manufacturing users/engineers, HCL L1 support, and global or regional application/solution teams, including HCL and PwC, where applicable.
Other Responsibilities
Perform other tasks reasonably required within the contracted manufacturing systems support scope.
