Copilot Studio Agent Developer
Summary
Builds and ships production AI agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio: configuring topics and instructions, tuning generative orchestration, grounding agents in SharePoint/Dataverse knowledge, and extending them with connectors, MCP servers and agent flows. One role also administers the Power Platform (environments, data policies, Entra ID, licensing, cost controls).
Resource 1 - Copilot Studio Agent Developer:
Build and ship production agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio that automate real business workflows, with a human in the loop wherever decisions carry risk.
What you'll do:
- Configure agents end to end: instructions, descriptions, topics, and model selection.
- Design generative orchestration write the instructions and tool/topic descriptions that drive planner routing, then debug and tune plans using the activity tracker and rationale.
- Ground agents in knowledge sources (SharePoint, Dataverse, OneDrive, websites) and extend them with connectors, custom tools/APIs, MCP servers, and agent flows.
- Publish to Teams, Microsoft 365, and SharePoint; test, evaluate, and monitor quality and usage.
Skills: Copilot Studio and Power Platform (Dataverse, Power Automate); prompt and instruction design; RAG and knowledge-source curation; REST/OpenAPI and custom connectors; solution-based ALM across dev/test/prod. Comfortable translating a business process into an agent design and defending the impact case.
Resource 2 - Copilot Studio Agent Developer & Platform Administrator:
Build production agents and own the platform they run on environments, policy, cost, and lifecycle.
Build
Everything in Option 1: orchestration design, knowledge grounding, tools/connectors/MCP, agent flows, multi-agent patterns (child/connected agents, A2A).
Administer:
- Environment strategy: dedicated environments over the default, Managed Environments, and controlled devtestprod promotion.
- Data policies in the Power Platform admin center — connector classification, knowledge sources, channels, HTTP, and authentication controls.
- Maker enablement and access: licensing, security roles, sharing rules, and read-only Analytics Viewer access for stakeholders.
- Capacity and cost: monitor Copilot credit consumption and set pay-as-you-go caps.
Monitoring and compliance: agent inventory, runtime protection status, audit trails, and Purview / Agent 365 controls where onboarded.
Skills: As above, plus Power Platform administration, DLP/data policy design, Entra ID and least-privilege access, and working fluently with IT, Security, and Compliance to set guardrails before agents reach production.
