Job Title: Customer Service Representative

Department: Recreation

Location: The Weiss Center, The Zone and Burning Bush Community Center

Reports To: Customer Experience Manager & Facility Rental Specialist

Working Hours: Part-time, flexible

Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

Essential Functions

The part time staff is responsible for customer service and overseeing the daily operations of the three recreation centers during the evening and weekend hours. There will also be weekday daytime hours at the Weiss Center.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the park district’s policies and operations and enforce them in a positive manner
  • Carry out all rules and regulations of the park district community centers
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures
  • Ensure that there is a safe environment for the public and staff in the building
  • Attend and participate in mandatory staff and training meetings
  • Must be knowledgeable of park district programs and facilities to answer patron’s inquiries. (ie brochure, program & facility schedule etc.)
  • In a professional manner, answer the phone and make assigned calls as required
  • Assist patrons with registrations
  • Greet patrons when entering and exiting the facility
  • Keep supervisor(s) informed of any problems or special occurrences
  • Be able to learn registration software (Community Pass) and be able to navigate areas such as facilities calendar, family lookup etc..
  • Provide exceptional customer service to the customer
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned


Tasks Specific to when working in Weiss Office

  • Count and balance the issued bank at the beginning and end of the shift (Weiss)
  • Accept room rentals and or birthday parties
  • Assist in locking up the office
  • Log in packages and or deliveries


Tasks Specific when overseeing any of the three recreation centers

  1. Oversee the operations of the facility
  2. Complete building rounds and document as required every 15-25 minutes
  3. Keep accurate records of the gym and fitness club counts. (Weiss only)
  4. Setup and take down rental and or program spaces as scheduled
  5. Clean and or pick up trash
  6. Keep the bathrooms clean, paper towels and toilet paper filled
  7. Oversee rentals which includes, but not limited to:
    • Communication with renter
    • Set-up / take-down of room
    • Collection of fees
    • Walk through of facility with renter (before and after rental) to check the entire room for general condition, damage and or cleanliness
    • Periodically check on the people and make sure that everything is going well during the rental
    • Clean-up the rented or used room by returning tables and chairs to the storage area, Place garbage in bins and any other cleaning or take down that needs to be done

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduates
  • Work well with public
  • Staff must be willing to work flexible hours which are typically after 5p during the weekdays and anytime on the weekends. Ideal candidates would be available at minimum of 2 nightsand at least one weekend day per week
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to multi task
