Data Engineer
Summary
Junior to mid-level Software/Data Engineer building Python services, SQL-backed data pipelines and Azure cloud solutions for an Amsterdam-based technology company working on smart, autonomous technology. Day to day: developing data processing, contributing to AI/automation initiatives and improving reliability at scale (hybrid).
Are you a Junior to Mid-level Software Engineer or Data Engineer who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies and getting your hands dirty with data?
We're working with an innovative technology company that is growing its international technology team and is looking for a Junior–Mid-level Software / Data Engineer to join them.
This is a great opportunity if you have a solid foundation in Python, SQL and cloud technologies, but don't necessarily have every technology on your CV yet.
Why this role?
You'll be working at the intersection of software, data, AI and automation, helping develop products that turn large amounts of real-world data into useful, intelligent solutions.
You'll have the opportunity to work across different areas of technology rather than being boxed into one narrow discipline - and you'll be surrounded by people who want you to develop and grow with the business.
If you're the type of engineer who enjoys being given a problem and given the opportunity to solve it then this could be a very good match
What you'll be doing
- Develop and improve Python-based services and applications
- Work with SQL, databases and large datasets
- Build, maintain and optimise data pipelines and processing solutions
- Work with Azure and cloud-based technologies
- Contribute to AI and automation initiatives
- Improve the performance, reliability and scalability of existing solutions
- Work with engineers and domain experts to turn complex data into practical products
- Take ownership of technical problems and research solutions independently
- Get exposure to technologies and projects outside your existing area of expertise
What we're looking for
- Good SQL and database fundamentals
- An understanding of data structures and data modelling
- Some experience with Azure or another cloud platform
- A good grounding in software or data engineering
- Strong problem-solving skills
- A proactive, curious and self-sufficient approach
- The ability to research, learn and work things out independently
- Good communication skills and confidence working in an English-speaking environment
- A relevant technical degree or equivalent commercial experience
It would be a bonus if you have experience with:
- IoT or telemetry data
- Digital twins
- Complex operational or physical datasets
You don't need to know everything.
The team is much more interested in your technical fundamentals, curiosity and potential than whether you've used every technology listed above.
They're looking for someone with the right energy - someone who takes ownership, asks questions, finds answers and wants to keep developing.
You'll be joining an innovative and ambitious international team that is shaping the future of smart and autonomous technology where you'll have the freedom to work on interesting, emerging technology rather than simply maintaining legacy systems.
What you will recieve:
- A competitive salary of €4,000 - €4,860 gross per month
- 24 vacation days + 8% holiday allowance
- Company pension plan
- Fitness programme,
- Company laptop and phone,
- Weekly team lunch every Tuesday, take part in regular team events and of course your own company branded Dopper water bottle.
- Opportunity to work in the state of the-art offices in Amsterdam EDGE stadium (Hybrid)
